You can get 2 large chemical ones from Tesco for £5.

Imo, they are much better than the charcoal ones but only last about 25 minutes.

I can remember trev using a cool bag & reusable ones
in the past. Think it was the ones you pop in the microwave.
Must try & dig out his post on it.
Yeah, I was at a big outdoor shop in town and was looking for the reusable ones but this was all they had so I thought I'd give them a try.

This about the cheapest I can find. I use these also and find them above all convenient and reliable. Can get very hot in gloves though!

I use the rechargeable chemical bag ones which I think I got from Milletts a few years ago - still working well, seem to stay hot for about 30 mins and recharge by boiling them in a pan for 10 mins. I usually only use 1 pair at the field but have 2 pairs just in case

I bought a couple of charcoal warmers a while ago but never used them because of the smell. They are described as odourless but they're pretty stinky. Anyone know if some charcoals smell worst than others or are they all pretty much the same?

The two different types I have tried are both the same odour wise, but I don't mind the smell too much, its no worse than cooking on the Bar B Que. Reminds me of Summer everytime I light one

Surely you'll only have cold hands for the first flight...after that you'll have a nice warm battery to put in your pocket! :-)

If your batteries are that warm you are using the wrong ones.
