    You can tell if its in standby if the PC is quiet i,e, no fans etc running. If this is the case go into control panel and power options and disable system standby. cant remember exactly where the setting is tho as im not in front of my main pc at the moment
    I thought that as well and did change the power setting to never turn computer + monitor off.

    So by reinstalling W7, did you solve the problem ?
    Did you do clean reinstall or just a repair drivers option (not sure if you get that option as I haven't reinstalled it yet)?

      No i have the same problem with Win7 (i can not believe they still havent got S3 sleep states working right in all cases yet). I have got my PC set to turn off display in 5 mins but i have the "put the computer to sleep" option set to never.
