  • Another great day!

So we had another day of heli domination at the Slough RC Flying club.
Though this club has always been regarded as a fixed wing club the heli numbers are rising along with the skill level of the heli boys.

Yet again the heli's outnumbered the planes by 3 to 1, and all of us broke new ground, apart from me nailing loops & rolls (at last), other members did their first inverted hovers, some did a few tentative tic tocs, right down to the member who was goaded into taking the training gear off his twister for his first TG free hover!

Small steps I know, but they all count!

To a chorus of banter, whoops and cheers, everybody upped their game today and it just go's to show the value & reward of flying at a club.

Well done to all those who were there!

Yea there's plenty of room! They are definitly embracing our voo doo down there. And to be honest the plane flyers are a good laugh as well.

Here's a quote from our chairman in the latest newsletter,

This Committee have said from the beginning that we want to encourage new and experienced pilots to our Club. What we did not foresee is, this growth would come from the Heli Pilots which in my view is fantastic.

Sounds like you had a great day, Sorry i couldnt get down. I am certainly missing out by not getting down to the club every weekend.

Glad to hear everyone is moving up with the flying and its Great to hear the training UC has come off the Twister as he has only been flying a couple of weeks.

Hi Gareth. I know the feeling im missing out as well. Both raptors are ready to fly and the blade is rebuilt but needs some fine tuning. Always working over the weekend and can only get down the club every six weeks or so?

Looks like I really missed out. By the the time I go to the field every one had left. Flew my 450 sport out today. My third battery in the dark.
                  Me, my 450pro and I, and hopefully soon a trex 550 3G.

                        Had a great day yesterday,
Went flying in the afternoon with Downdraght, and after a couple of dry runs, from a nose in hover I rolled inverted, not the tidiest roll I have seen but my first solo off a buddy. A friend of ours is really progressing fast and will pass us old fogies soon for sure. I let him have a go on the 600 and he loves it, (wonder how long till he gets one). and Downdraughts son also had a go on the 600, his first solo flight (watch out dad, can I borrow your 700)
Then off to a night fly and BBQ and fireworks, had my first flight in the dark, which was OK till Edders set off a bloody firework and I lost orientation. Luckily managed to get it back (with a little help spotting from others) which was good as it wasnt my heli.

Yes we have a similar problem! He's improving at breakneck speed and we're getting to the stage where breaking his thumbs might be the only option!
