  • Flying an MCX in a car?

What would happen if I was to fly an MCX in a car/van while it was moving?

There would be no air movement so it shouldn’t move.

But the car might move around the heli as the acceleration forces of the car would not be given to the heli as it would not be connected.

I will have to try this out at the weekend but I was wandering what people think will happen.

It will fly exactly the same as it would in a room of a similar size and the movement of the car will have little or no impact.

However, unless you're thinking about flying it in a box van, where there is a physical barrier between you the flier and the driver, take my advice - DON'T!

it would be done on private land with a driver(for the car) and a pilot in the other seat.
It would be done in a safe way.

I'm guessing the driver will be shooting the vid? If not, there won't be a whole lotta space left in the Corsa (or Saxo) eh?

It’s something that has been playing on my mind for a while. If you have a bit of paper on the dash and you turn a corner the paper will fly off to one side (this could be the tilt of the car or the acceleration not working on the paper). My other thought is that when you break hard you will be pushed forward and held in the by the seat belt, at this point wouldn’t a model fly forward in to the dash?

I get the feeling that if we change speed slowly I don’t think it will change the model but if it’s done quickly then it might.

I will see if I can get it filmed, and I will post the results either way.

The car is probably going to be a Ford Galaxy as this is the largest one I can get my hands on.

Wonder what an mCX would fly like in the pay load bay of the space shuttle whilst in orbit ??
You could probably do a loop

It's been done. There is some video kicking about these guys who do that kind of thing. They did it with a 450 in 45ft artic while driving round a industrial estate from what i remember. will try and find it.
                            Cheers
