I recently took delivery of a pair of Innovation Plus prescription glasses from Model Glasses: -

    Innovation Plus

This was after reading a couple of threads on here, and following what I hoped was good advice. I also got my eyes tested before I ordered the glasses.

What a difference! I was flying yesterday, in conditions which my "normal" prescription sunglasses would have struggled with. In fact, as the light changed due to a very early nightfall cos of the hour change, , I changed the front lenses on my glasses, and was really able to see well.

It really made a difference to my confidence, being able to see properly. To anyone contemplating buying a set of specific flying glasses with interchangeable lenses, I would recommend you go ahead, and I'm very happy with my Model Glasses.

Brian, thats great news. I have perscription glasses, and a number of years ago I had a pair of sunglasses made and they are great for driving, but not so good for flying. I had seen the glasses you have got on the net, but not any reports on how good they are. I shall now get some ordered.
Did you send them your perscription, and how much did you pay?

    Thanks, Rob

This reminds me I need to get my model glasses inserts fitted with the prescription lenses.

I have a pair of prescription sunglasses I always fly with but they are really best for bright sun.

Rob, the process is quite simple - if you click on "buy" for prescription glasses, it takes you to a form to input your prescription. Note they don't do extreme prescriptions, but that's all explained on their site. I would suggest you get a new eye test if yours is more than a few months old. One thing they ask for is PD - pupillary distance. I asked my optician to put it on my prescription, no probs. Otherwise, you could probably get someone with a ruler to measure yours.

Cost was £90, including postage, for single prescription lenses. Bifocals are more expensive.

            HTH.

I too have the prescription ones same as you Brian.

I don't use them all the time, usually just keep on my Ray Bans that I use to drive, which offer a bit of 'wrap-around' styling.

But, under certain conditions, I go straight for the Model Glasses, such as when it's really grey (use the yellow lens) and when it's really bright with no clouds (use the polarised dark ones).

                Definitely worth having.

Couldn't agree more, Steve. It's amazing how much better the MG glasses are than my prescription sunglasses specifically bought for driving!

Thanks for the advice Brian, think I'll get the eyes tested first then.

Brian, sorry for all the questions mate, just checked, and my last test was 5 months ago. What exactly is pupillary distance? Guess it is centre to centre of pupils.
