Definately would not wan't the engine to suffer by not running the right pipe let alone lose power available.
So as you have had all the experience here with this new engine mark does it suffer poor back pressure and run at all badly with no power with the mp 5 sb
other users report these mufflers are externally identical. i guess be a while till we find out if internally there is a difference. me being a cynical twat have already decided :-)
looking forward to the reviews guys and i await someone in my club buying one to see just how much difference there is with the OS and TT53 that on paper makes the same HP.
cheers
You might as well just buy one, no one else at wf is likely to lol

i'm not buying one del. not a way in hell a 50 class engine is worth 300 quid with a pipe for me. i'd rather buy new engines for my 3 90's and wait and see how this pans out and prices normalise.
if i had to bet, i'd have a large chunk on yes they are the same.
i think we are being suckered into this new muffler hype. i doubt there is enough difference in capacity to warrant a new muffler if you already have one of the better 50 size ones.
There is no doubt at all this engine is very good indeed.... a big difference over the 50 in power for me in my Vibe which was struggling with the 50.
I've not seen one in a 600 or velocity or any other "lighter" heli but i can guarantee that it will be like chalk and cheese whatever machine it goes in.
This is aside from any improvements in reliability, especially in bearings which is yet unproven.
The pipe requirement is a whole new ball game. I said a while back that i guessed the engine would be marketed to all as an upgrade to their current 50 unit. There has been no pre testing or pushing from OS to suggest that the new pipe is a must.
This is either to protect sales of engines to those not intending to upgrade the pipe.... ot because an upgraded pipe is not needed but is an option. I'm very eager to see which one!
I also expected the OS pipe to be bespoke and if its not and is a current offering already for the 50 market then that will be just a "suitable" pipe re branded. Dissapointing at the least..... rip off at the worst
I'm a sucker for shiny new kit but i'm determinned to ensure this is truelly needed before buying.
If it is, its bespoke and my engine needs it to perform to its best potential i will part with my money happily..... we will see

It's on my crimbo list Mark, so hopefully in just over 2 months you will see it in a velocity.
As for bearing reliability, i hope they are better, i've just had to do another bearing change today, think thats at least 3 this year, is better now i am not running magnum though
