  • Trex 500 and JR 3810

    Hi,

I've just finished assembleing a Trex 500 and I would like to use my JR X3810 tranny with it.

I got back into flying fixed wing a few years ago, so bought this quite flash transmitter. Then the flying club lost their field and I dropped back out of flying, so the transmitter went back into its case and has been languishing in the loft ever since.

Now getting into flying helis and it would be nice to use this transmitter. However, it doesn't really understand CCPM mixing, but it has got quite good mixing capabilities, so I can get it to sort of work.

I was wondering if anyone has already done this.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

Hope you get it sorted and you'll have a blast with the T-rex 500.

If you don't get it sorted you can pick up used Spektrum DX6i Txs for around £50 if you're lucky.

Mind you, what Rx are you using?

I use a JR 3810 with a Spektrum module for various helis, including a Logo 10 and a Vision 50 which are both ECCPM.

What receiver are you using and do you have the manual for the 3810?

I can post more info tonight when I get home including my settings as a starting point for yours.

I was intending to use the s-pcm receiver that came with the transmitter, which is an 8 channel heli receiver.

        Still got the manual somewhere

If you hold the select mode button then switch on tx in the model select screen then scroll to servo & select CCPM you require then switch tx off & on the go into functions to set 'reversing switch' 1 norm, 2 rev, 3 rev, 4 norm, 5 norm, 6 norm, 7 norm, then 'swash mix' mine is Aile + 80, elev +80 pit +49 leave to motor wires disconnected & test servo & cyclic.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

Looks like Tourerjim's got you sorted out, but if there is anything I can help with or if you would still like my settings you can pm me.
Also you can download a manual at the link below.
As you will see it is for a JR XP8103, which I understand is the same radio for a different market. I have a copy of this pdf manual and its all virtually the same as the printed manual.

JR X-3810 8 channel programmable computer radio control (rc) for airplane, helicopters and gliders. Model Flight has the JR X-3810 8 channel and the complete JR range of accessories and spare parts. Buy at the best prices on-line

                    Thanks.

If you could send me your settings that would be very useful. I've not done this before and it would be good to not set it up to go stratospheric on the first flight :-)

I must say I'm very impressed - I know that things don't change in the modeling world quite as quickly as they do elsewhere, and I know its got a removable FM unit at the back, but I had assumed that the X3810 was obsolete.

                              What module are you using?
