I was going a point off this as well, as you may or not be aware i rent a field off a farmer which has a public footpath at one end off it, i fly well away from this as its also near a field with horses in which part off the terms of this field is that i do not fly above this.....fair enough but ive had members of the public exersise there dogs across my field without a care in the world lucky for me i caught them out of the corner off my eye and landed rather hastly in the farmers field, which at the time had no crops in it has now by the way so if it happens now i would be screwed. i have written permission to be in this field as part off the agreement bet this person walking the dog hasnt!!!!! what would happen in this situation if the model crashed and god forbid something happened?

So we just land and wait till they have passed on.

Lee we are back to square one mate , the reason i got involved in this thread was because i thought what you were doing was sensible enough not perfect but better than a lot seem to think is acceptible , in that you were a long way from anything . Whether its public or not is another discussion . Maybe im lucky in that there are a few good clubs within 40mins drive from me so have never needed to fly on public land . As i stated before it just beggars beleif that others seem to think that as long as its no bigger than a 450 its not going to hurt anyone , not that you said that mind , lol . In reality the most crashes seem to involve this size of heli simply because there less stable and easyer to become dissorientated with .

Kevin i think in youre situation you would have no problem as you are on private property with the written consent of the owner , so you're BMFA insurance would cover you mate .

I think what im saying is i myself arnt doing the ideal thing (and didnt want to even defend that fact) but i do every other thing to make sure that i fly incident free. Which is where the common sense comes into it. If i didnt do this then i may as well pack the hobby in as there just aint nowhere else suitable. That or id only get the chance to fly very little like when i get invited places or go to events/fly-ins. Which just wouldnt seem like a hobby to me then.

[quote=Mart61;290335]I want to have all of your babies!

Perhaps a thread that teaches people how to search for their local byelaws might be a good idea? At least then, should you decide to fly there anyway, you'll know which byelaw you'll be in breach of?

              quote]

Simple task.. e-mail your local council and ask the question

Is there a designated flying area in your local area
What can I fly there safely.. size and fuel type
Will my BMFA insurance be valid .. If I fly there
The rest is common sense... If they say NO.. then that's down to you and your Conscience.... and what you choose to do

I fly 450 s in my park with BMFA insurance and the council's approval... but always.. Im always aware of things around me... and Im respectfull of other people rights to be there as well... with there dogs shitting everywhere.. sorry... just ranting on.. Dog poo can be dangerous to children's eye sight,, but nobody say's much about that do they

Storm in a tea cup springs to mind. Seriously, I don't care where you guys fly or what you do as long as your having fun :-)

It's your business and nothing to do with anyone else where you choose/have permission to fly.

Maybe people should fly more and not worry about what everyone else is doing?!

Gazza - I don't know which park you fly in in Sheffield (I assume that's where you fly?), but if it's not Blacka Moor, Richmond Sports Park, Graves Park, Tinsley Park Playing Fields and Concord Park than I believe the byelaws prohibit you from flying:

It's Ecclesfield park mate on the outskirts of Sheffield near Chapeltown.
Doesn't appear on the list so I'll have to look into this further.

Perhaps it's only the inner city parks covered by these byelaws.

And to the two Pete's - I agree it's nobody's business where anyone flies, until there's an incident or accident, when it becomes everybody's business.

I agree it is all about common sense. That common sense should include at least:

                              - knowing if the byelaws permit you to fly where you do
                              - knowing how to find out where the byelaws can be found
                              - knowing the consequences associated with choosing to ignore the byelaws
