That's very true. When I had my Sceadu 30 (which is a big heli for a 30.. same frame as the 50 version), I took it to a local field. Problem was that it attracted kids like you wouldn't believe, and in no time at all I had a big crowd of the little brats around me.

I decked the heli into the ground (again), and thought to myself how dangerous it was and how I could have killed or seriously altered/improved the looks of some of the little bastards.

Brian dont beat your self up to much, just make sure you learn from your mistakes.
I dont think your doing your self any favours, flying a 500 (to fast and twitchy)
get your self somthink bigger (slow and stable)

The 500 I sold Brian is just as stable as any 600 size heli Derek.

Lack of stick time and getting himself in trouble would have happened with any heli.

Much as I agree the larger helis are stable, this accident was destined to happen choose what size it was.

Sorry to hear the news on the heli - but as most have already stated it takes courage to say when you've dropped a clanger and hold your hands up. Thankfully nothing more than your pride dented. Put it behind you now you've had a hard lesson and its time now about moving forward and getting back on track in a more controlled / safer environment.
              Cheers

I'd just like to say thanks a lot for all the positive messages. I really appreciate it.

I've had a few hours now to think about things, and I'll be flying (safely) as soon as possible.

Eddie, and Tim - thank you for your extremely generous offers. If you are sure you want to be so generous, I'll PM my details - what can I say guys, such generosity!

TBH, there's a lot of damage, but it is repairable, and I will do it.

Eddie, I'd like to nominate Tim and Eddie for EGS for their generosity - and at least give yourself an honarary one!

Thanks, guys. You've just proved again this is the best heli forum going.

Just read your post Brian, sorry to hear of your crash, hope you can get it fixed and back up again real soon.

Looking for the silver lining? ...well this might be a good time to suggest to the Mrs that you really need more than one heli so that you can still fly while fixing/maintaining/rebuilding the other.

Hope to hear you're back in the air soon.

Thanks, Martin. Trouble is, cos we are so hands-on running the hotel, I can only get out for a max of an hour at a time, and the nearest club is about 40 minutes away.

So, I've got plenty of time to rebuild & sort out my club membership before autumn, when we slow down.

It's a PITA, but I am conscious of the fact that things could have been a lot worse. I can & will rebuild my heli, & then I'll just have to be patient - plenty of time on Phoenix.

Just thinking about it, my heli is like the executioner's axe in the old song - "Its had a few new handles, and one or two new heads, but it's still the original axe."

Not a lot original on my heli after this repair.

Ouch - glad to hear that no people damage and sorry to hear about the heli!!
Yet to get my first real heli, still doing loads of daft things on Phoenix and wrecking countless squidillions of virtual euros.
Thought that once I do get something larger than a CX3 to fly I may 'get away with it' in the local park on a quiet evening - no chance!
Bon courage with the repairs and future flights.
