  • World-of-Heli order / situation

Last week I went looking for the K & S swash leveling tool. This is the one with the wedge shaped slot where it fits different shaft sizes and has a magnet to hold it to the main mast.

I found one at a store in Germany called 'World-Of-Heli' and placed an order online. But their web store does not have a regular payment facility, they invoice you after the fact. Well, when I got to the end of the process and saw the total (45.00 Euros). I decided to keep looking.

So I then found it from a store in the USA for $38.00 (about £25.00) so I bought one from them.

Today, much to my surprise, I received in the post a box from World-Of-Heli.

I didn't even know what it was when I signed for it but I certainly didn't expect anything from them as I had not paid them.

    Their invoice says;

    "many thanks for your order.

You find in the attached file your invoice.

In a few minutes comes the Paypal payment request.

When we receive you payment we ship your order asap.

Many thanks for the business with us."

So it clearly indicates, as one would expect, that the order will not be shipped without payment.

I have not opened the box but I'm certain it is the swash tool.

I'm not paying 45 Euros for it.

I sent them an email in reply to their payment request saying I found it cheaper elsewhere so please cancel the order. So we'll see what they say. On the one hand I feel bad that they shipped it anyway. If I thought they would do that I would have made it clear I wanted to cancel the order. But since they even said they would not ship before getting payment I don't think I should be out for return postage. If they offer to match the price of the other store I'd have two and I don't need two cause that's kinda the whole point of this swash tool.

No, they had no facility for credit card payment. They sent a paypal money request but they have no ability to collect any money from me.

I had an order from these people last week for the first time. All paid for and good service etc. When I opened the tidy little cardboard box, I found inside the two things that I had ordered, and a little carton of drink! The drink was yummy, even though the packet was all written in foreignese!

Andy will probably correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is if a company sends something you have not requested, it's up to them to arrange collection. Should be fun as it's from Germany!

BTW, please let me know what you think of the swashplate leveller when you get it.

I don't know what happens when it is a company outside the UK. The UK distance selling regs allow an item to be returned within 7 days for any reason at all.

I should have told them as soon as I bought it from the other store but since I had not paid I certainly didn't think they would go ahead and ship the order.

I'm sure it will be resolved without any drama. It's just somewhat a 'grey area' in that It's true I placed an order and didn't cancel it but I also have their statement in the invoice that it would be shipped after payment is received. I just got busy with other things and forgot and figured eventually they'd prob either cancel the order themselves or nag me once more for the payment at which time I'd say thanks but I found it elsewhere.

I got a purple K&S swash plate leveller and it's a neat design. Fits any diameter of main shaft with the V shape and a magnet. I haven't used it yet, but I rekon you have to be quite careful with it as it's only the magnet that is holding it squarely onto the shaft. It would be all to easy to push it skew-wiff without realising, but I guess the proof will be in the pudding when I get to use it.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly on the magnet and positioning but it should be fairly easy to keep an eye on it to make sure it is flush against the shaft. We shall see.

Another tidy tool that K&S do is the tail hub puller.

It's not uncommon to use thread lock to fit the grub screws into the tail hub on most helis, which then usually wicks into the gap between the hub and the shaft making it a right royal pain to get the hub off in the future. The little K&S puller makes this job dead easy.

I think i bought a YS50 piston ring from this chap in the past, first one didnt make it here, second one did. They were relativly cheap, supprised they shipped without sorting out the payment, I suspect they have defo made a mistake.
                        Regards,

I've used them many times before.. when it is a large (££) order then you get the option to pay on their website.. I've not ordered anything below the threshold from them so not experienced the "send now/pay later" service which does seem odd!

Either way they are really helpful guys and I'm sure you'll get it resolved easily enough.

I haven't had a drink from them yet but all my packages have contained a little packet of Haribo sweets!

                            Cheers

Well, I appreciate the good faith shown by shipping an order before getting payment but their invoice indicated they would ship after they received the payment but maybe they just cut and paste the same wording but only wait for payment on oders over the threshold.

I'll probably offer to buy it if they will match the other store's price because even at 25 quid it's a pricey swash leveling tool. I think it's partly because something like 16 Euros was postage!
