I've got the urge..to skive off work...

...leave work early today to arrive home before the misses do and have a cuppa while browsing RCH and HF. Then get stuck into my Trex500 nitro conversion build for a while.

Now my question is, have you ever skived off work to go fly or go home to pick up a parcel before the missus do?
Or just call in sick because you NEED to finish that heli build.

Hell yes, I have skived many a time to spend more time enjoying the hobby.

Definition of annoyance = Being at home after skiving to build a heli, then realising that a critical parcel has been delivered to WORK and you cannot progress any further without it!

I'm getting a bit suspicious if I read your post (the first one).
Are you implicitly expecting somebody to tell you that it's OK? No one but yourself can answer that question, because it depends on your job.

For example, I have flexible working hours. No one cares when I do my work. Sometimes I take the laptop home and continue working there, or don't show up at all (which is OK since I have a home working agreement). So for me it's no problem to rearrange my working hours as needed.
Now maybe my absence would cause the assembly line to come to a grinding halt. Or I'm a surgeon with patients waiting for a brain transplant Maybe then it would be less appropriate ...

What is this 'call in sick' option?

I had 2 days off about 5 years ago and nothing before that, didn't even have a day off school.

'Fortunately' I can work from home or office as needed so the issue doesn't arise much. Unfortunately that also means I can be working until very late at night sometimes so it all equals out in the end.

Only you know if what you propose is the 'right' thing to do in your circumstances.

Im self employed so I never take time off or I dont make any money.
I cant remember ever taking a day off sick.

If I dont go to work then I will lose alot more than one days profit.

Times are hard at the moment the best ive managed is divering to the field for an hour during a dayI was working, but then ended up doing an extra couple of hours to make up for it LOL.

i've never skived to do heli stuff, it ain't worth it imo.. lose your job no more heli's anyway

Nup I never skive off either ... like Lee has said .. get caught its not worth it ... some days its been loverly and been stuck at work .. .always the next time

I skive off from home on way back from work, stop off and tell the wife I was working late lol
