had a close call with the 500 today, where I mounted the esc which was at the front under the battery tray, the wires moved and rubbed against the pinion ended up shredding the rubber insulation. Whilst in a hover I noticed white debris splatted over the frame which made me bring it down and inspect the heli. could have gone horribly wrong had it gone through the wire. listen learnt and I have mounted the esc on the side of the frames now.

Lucky escape, Andy! still, no real damage done!

yeah I do love the 500, it's nice to have a heli I can see easily in the air and the stability unmatched by the others I have. I am a bit nervous with it though mainly due to it being new and the initial cost of it but Im sure those nerves will go eventually once the models older.

Today I managed a little 'extreme hovering' in the garden.

Mainly to test a different pinion and throttle curve on the GL450 (well that's what I say but we all know it was purely for the adrenalin rush )

Cool Paul ... i was doing some circuits at the field to get used to night stuff and the way the heli behaves as i hardly fly this one and landed and the clutch had gone lmao ... needle rollers have gone in it so just ordered a new clutch .. good thing Rappy ones fit hehehe.... How ya getting on with night flying then ?

oh forgot ..added some extra light string ( green ) to undercarriage and landing gear .. works alot better than stupid glow sticks lol...

The best crash ever

Yes i flew today & crashed aswell. This was my 2nd ever crash from pushing past my limits. I was about 80ft up & decided to attampt a piro flip from upright to inverted then invert to upright. I've tried from inverted before & can get it upright but it's very very messy. Well today i just lost it & i tried to correct it as it fell but i could not as i couldn't work out what it was doing. So it came down & i hit thro hold about a nano second before impact. As i walked towards it i was expecting blades/flybar/shafts/boom all to be broke. Imagine my relief & supprise to find the ONLY damage was one paddle twisted 2mm out of line. I checked it over then flew the rest of the lipo doing tic tocs. I owe this good fortune to hitting hold at the right time & the long grass (about 1ft) & rain making the ground softer. Hey i didn't even crack or scratch the canopy!!! This was with my 450 btw.

I also did something a bit daft today. I was flying the Logo when i thought i'd do a quick trim of the SL 720. I landed, flicked into rate, hovered & flicked between rate & hold, job done. I then landed.......I then took off & then started doing tic tocs. When i started coming in backwards i wondered why the tail was having a tendancy to drift??? Dumb stupid numpty here was only doing tic tocs in rate mode. I suppose it's a credit to the Gyro/servo set up that even in rate it will do tic tocs

3 batteries at lunch time practicing my "A" moves on the 450.

Was getting 11minutes each battery - no idle up - quite please with that

This afternoon done 2 lipo's with 250se & 2 with 450pro, circuits, nose in, 8's just all soft stuff.
