Haha, only the hardcore survive, and my fleet is in the loft too. One day I shall do the 2.4ghz conversion on my sabre as that will 100% make it fly as it should do. A while ago I plugged the battery into my logo ESC just because I'd forgotten the sound of the Ice 100 initiation. My dx7 needs a new battery as it's completely dead.

I am still here. I look at the forum every day. I am just completing the build of my Logo 550 SX which is now my only helicopter.
I didn't fly today but I did see the most amazingly skilful flights ever. I went to watch the Freestyle Masters at BMFA Buckminster. I hadn't been there before and was very impressed. ( I met Manny Williamson).
The chairman of our club (sunny Milton Keynes) was the winner. He narrowly beat some brilliant pilots.Tron 7.0 advance Vbar evo V Control

Sunny? That's a myth. Grass roots 2012 was windy as hell and iirc it rained early too. I still p155 myself off over my botched inverted flyby in my sets. I could do it 1 foot of the ground in practice but the wind caught the disc as I flipped and blew it towards everyone behind the flight line ???? I saved it though but felt like a tit. In hindsight I should have maybe flipped lower.Yes the big sigpic is coming back

I didn't fly but I did take part in the Open Day/ Fly in at MK heli club. yesterday. It was sunny (of course), warm with a light wind. We had a good few guests. I didn't count them but I estimate about 30. A good few former club members turned to say hello. I hope that they will re-join at some time.
There was a lot of excellent flying. The favourite, for me, was a flight by Duncan Osbourne. It was 20 years ago to the day that he won his first competition. He flew the same routine with the same music. It was wonderful to watch. He had brought the same helicopter but didn't fly that. It is looking a bit old fashioned nowadays.
Former chairman Kevin barbecued a lots and lots of burgers and sausages. My wife and I dispensed tea, coffee and cakes. The raffle was very popular. Alessio Romeo, committee member and proprietor of Hely Shop donated a large number of vouchers and there were prizes of wine, beer and biscuits. The proceeds of these enterprises are going into the club's funds.
Chairman Callum (he who won the Freestyle Masters at Buckminster recently), did a great job in preparing the grounds.
The whole thing was very ably supervised by Adam Plumbridge, the club's events co-ordinator. I hope that this will be first of many successful events.Tron 7.0 advance Vbar evo V Control

Just for grins I had a little browse at the beginning of this thread, something like 13 years ago. Seeing some names that used to be regular posters here. Makes me wonder where are they now? (and not just in terms of not posting here, but just life in general, still in the hobby or not etc)Kasama, Minicopter, Henseleit, JR, Shape, Beam

Me, helis in loft (won't sell) lost my licence (for 1 year because of a balls up)so lost my job, then depression till got licence back, told I could have my job back but nope I'm in the process of getting my class 1 hgv. Into my sea kayaking, snorkelling and back into my fishing. Lost my passion for my bikes so at least one will be sold at some point.
I will however at some point convert my sabre to separates making it glitch free. But I'll also have to get a new battery for the dx7 first. But that's a long way down the line if ever as I still want to learn to scuba dive with the wife.
And I certainly didn't expect to have the longest running thread on this forum. Amazing, the place is a ghost town yet it's STILL active

All started their own groups on FB I guess.Originally posted by Mike Sanders View PostI wonder too. Where are they all? I still look at the forum every day but there is not much to read.
It was nice to see MK doing so well on Saturday. Very busy, and the club is looking great. I heard a rumour WaveyDavey might be coming back, but maybe he needs a little longer to get over the bikes

Life, work and in particular kids have got in the way for me. I have very little spare time and when I do, it's inevitably windy so RC heli flying is a rare occasion for me now but I still love it. Problem is because I fly so rarely I'm having to relearn just about everything.
Also, sadly for me, like many others, when the forum was migrated into the new format it just didn't do it for me. I lost interest, never checked it and forgot about it. I check it occasionally but as has been said, it's so quite now there's nothing to read.... other than people being extremely optimistic in trying to sell on second hand gear!

Even without all the life stuff - just the usual 7 to 8 months of winter, and I have felt so rusty at the start of every season. This year was the first time since moving back down here that I pretty much jumped straight back in.
When I was living in London I was flying at clubs where we had some kind of building, one even with a generator. I was traveling by train, etc. so I was able to fly through the winter, not as much, but just enough to stay in the routine. But down here on the coast, the last few years, winters have just been too windy and wet. So every year it's a very long time away.
