It's not often we applaud out loud up the club, we see awesome flying every week but this was special and well deserved.
couldn't agree more Dave what a jolly good day ... passing my multi rotor A exam was just the icing on the cake - though I must admit it was less of a buzz than passing my hell A ... well its either wings A next or I will need to approach my B's now ...

      • Brilliant day flying today. Foggy in Ipswich but clear and sunny at the field. New ESC on the X50E has done the trick and got loads of flights in. It behaved itself and flew nearly perfectly. I need more packs.

        • What a fantastic day for flying! Clear sky, no wind, even quite warm. I managed to get 8 packs through my OXY 3+ this afternoon and I feel like I'm making progress. I managed a few inverted circuits, inverted piros, big air cuban eights and my first slow elevator and aileron tic-tocs. All went well and certainly helped by the clear, still conditions. The OXY is awesome too, it just goes exactly where you point it and has loads of power in reserve. Anyone looking for a 300 size heli to play with should get one of these. If the bigger helis are any better than this then I can't wait to try one!

Better is a relative term ... Big helis aren't better if you only have a small space to fly in for example ... BUT, if you're talking just about how they fly, big helis definitely fly better. Smoother, more precise, less susceptible to wind, easier to see ...

Once I started flying 700's I kept trying small helis, but with the exception of the 180CFX, nothing really works for me. Just got a Gaui X3 though to try out as I do want a decent small heli to fly in the fields behind my house.

Yes I do notice the wind a bit with the OXY 3. It handles wind amazingly well for its size (much much better than my 180 CFX) but it's still only a 0.6 kg heli at the end of the day. Today with zero wind it flew amazingly well and I really couldn't have asked for any more precision, but I know in the wind it isn't quite the same story. It's still very good, but I can see the limitations when the wind picks up. Be interesting to see how you get on with the X3, I only hear good stories about it. I'm getting a Goblin 380 for my next build and have high expectations for this one. The OXY 3 is a keeper for its convenience and it's just so much fun to fly. I'm not sure where that leaves my 180 CFX to be honest, but I do still like flying it and recently re-furbished it with a Lynx tail. The problem is that the OXY 3 just completely blows it away now I'm starting to fly a bit harder and the field I fly in is plenty big enough for either, so it's the OXY I always pick up first. But I can fly the 180 in a few smaller spots where I wouldn't be comfortable with the OXY, so I'll keep it as a beater.

              • It was a lovely windless day at sunny Milton Keynes. I had 6 flights of the 600 and watched the quadders FPV'ing around gaily.

Hee hee hee, the OED has three new words thanks to Lord Sanders ...
Quadders - Noun - people engaged in the act of fpv'ing who posess four opposable thumbs...
FPV'ing - Verb - quadders sitting in a chair with goggles on shouting "fook me that was close, now try to catch me you Mellon Farmer" whilst twitching their heads around...
Gaily - I have no idea where this is going, but I had a luvverly afternoon Gaily FPV'ing with a herd of quadders at our local FOD (Field Of Doom) - best days flying all summer...If this is global warming, then bring it on, I like it !
                  Trev
Lots of different things that fly

And happy to have FOUR shiny EGS

                      • 4 on Chase 360
                      • 2 on Kasama Dune 600
                      • 2 on Trex 600 Pro
                      • 2 on Goblin 630
                      • 2 on Compass 7HV

And a token fixed wing flight on the hair raising little Hobbyking Rare Bare. All went home in one piece though i broke a prop blade on the Rare Bear..... What a day!

                        • I took my Trex 500 and flew 4 packs on that.

I also managed to squeeze a couple of FPV flights in on my tame 3S quad and my utterly ballistic 4S quad. The Trex 500 was like an old Lada compared to the 4S quad's Ferrari like performance.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.
