Good luck with your new engines, let us know how you get on, we are interested, even though we made a lot of negative points

Just so we keep the flow going, I'll finish with another negative point. . . . . . gassers tend to smell really bad in the back of your car

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

You haven’t smelt the back of my car M8

      Thank's
I will keep you posted how I get on but first I will need to find out what gears to use,
Webra tested it at 1:82 in an NT (Henseleit) and a Vison (Helisystem) but I’ve no idea what that means.

I have 11-91 in the 90 and 11-93 in the 60, would it be OK to use these or will I need to change them.

Well the Gasser came today as promised by Cyberheli and I couldn’t wait to start fitting it in my Raptor 60, no issues at all but it’s rather a snug fit, everything is a stright swap even the throttle arm is perfect. The ignition system hangs a bit low and I will probable resite it after a few test flights. I’m picking the pinion & main gears up tonight and the Magic Pipe 1100/196 is coming from Midland, Looks like a winner for webra.
        Flying Wednesday.

I'm pleased to hear it is all coming together for you. I'm sure you will have fun flying it

On the subject of bearing life, one only has to look at turbines to see the inefficiencies of glow motor bearings. The MW54 runs at 120,000rpm at normal operating speeds, has a combustion chamber running at about 2000 degrees, the turbine itself averages between 450 and 500 degrees c. the bearings have a service (replacement) interval of 70 hours, now thats not bad

          Cheers,
          Pete.

That’s good but I bet they are expensive bearings.
I wonder if Glow manufactures know about them.

they are a different sort of bearing. designed to run at very very high speed. There is no bearing cage and there are more balls in it. They are also quite sloppy at rest.

i still dont see the problem with wearing bearings out they are only a few quid from the local bearing stockist and take about an hour to swap including dropping the motor out of the model :-)

                Gassa's

Had quite a few of them over the years - I like the idea of the cheapness of fuel etc. but overall they have all been slightly dissappointing -- they are not as nice as a 90 glow.
The one point i don't think anyone has touched on is noise -- I hate loud models especially my own - and I have never thought any of mine where quiet , infact the last one " A Spectra G " cost me about £350 in the search for a reasonably quiet silencer and I never found one that did the job and in the end I sold it on that point alone.

On the O.S. bearing topic - I never thought it a problem to change the rear bearing once a year wether it needed it or not. It's a long winter and a good time to do a bit of maintenance.

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

good point dave. They drown out other helis as soon as somebody fires up a predator/spectra down at charmouth.

Lots of people I speak too say they don’t like Gasser’s but how many have actually tried one I wonder.
A new member brought an X-Cell Gasser to fly on Sunday and that was quieter than the nitro's, very heavy but a nice looking Heli.

Just a few photos of my 60 with the webra fitted and ready to go at the weekend.

You were right about the smell guys but I think I can live with it as I will be saving a fortune in fuel.
