That's pretty cool. I've never seen one of the Morley's up close. 'Very interesting how the engine is mounted and with the belt drive for the tail rotor shaft.

I do still have it but have removed and sold on most of the radio gear. If I do ever put it back into the sky, which is doubtful, I'd kit it out with new electrics anyway.

Why would you want to fly that if you have a trex 500 and 600?
Still you could just buy some cheap electrics and get it flying. Would be fun

Well, I gave this heli to Joe (VRHC) a couple of weekends ago. He popped by my house, he and his good lady, to pick it up.

I reckon it's gonna look good when restored. Joe said he'd try and get it ready for Charmouth.

Keep us posted on the restoration, Joe.

I left an old Hirobo Shuttle at my old house when I moved last year. Hadnt been used for about 5 years and had about an inch of dust on it. I bet the old couple who moved in just dumped it in the bin

Ha, my son just sent me the link to this thread after I sent him a photo I found of me flying my Playboy in 1983.
I had forgotten how the collective was set up until I saw the photos here!
I remember spending two weeks reading up on heli theory before I started building. Then I built it with separate throttle and collective servos so I could mix parameters. Also I installed roller bearings on all of the control linkages, balanced the blades with a powder scale, it was very smooth. Which was good as there was no gyro, and I did some silly things when self-teaching, like taking off in long grass, on slopes, etc.
The engine was basic .25 but it got pretty hot, so I may have gone to a .28 with the bigger heat sink head as shown in your photos.
I sold it after a few months because my young children had a tendency to chase it around the yard!
A couple of years ago my kids got into electric helis, so did I. Esky Belt CP V2's is what we all bought. Good fun!
                  Thanks for the thread too.
