  • Belt CP Fun !

Okay so i bought a second hand belt cp from another member which was 100% in good condition and ready to fly.

Ever the optimist I took a spare 6ch spektrum reciever and bound it to my dx6i and went to fit it to the newly aquired 3d stunt flying machine.

    1. Tail rotor was going wrong way, but blades had been turned around.
    2. Gyro was upside down and underneath the heli directly below main shaft.
    3. The protech b-160 servos that it boasted had so much play in them it was unreal. utter shite servos i wouldnt even give them to a plank pilot.
    4. Main shaft was bent !
    5. Canopy had weights in it which i thought was weird.
    6. Linkages shot on head assy.

This is not a dig at sqwidge but quite worrying that he now has a blade 400

I have managed to replace all the servos back to the original esky ones apart from the tail which now has a eflite ds75 (these have no play on them at all.)
The tail does as it should, gyro put back home to where it belongs and CNC head fitted with new main shaft.

I removed the original ESC and fitted my spare blade 400 one as it had the same connectors as my bats.

I leveled the swash and fitted 325mm blades.

I tested on the livingroom floor and all that was needed to get it responding correctly was to reverse the rudder channel.

test flight soon as it was dark and blowing a gale.

        Oh Dear,

No wonder why he was having no Joy with the Belt CP,

Maybe if it was set-up right it may have been a different story :P :P

        Anyways,

Sqwidge, Set-up the B400 as best you can, then get someone to look it over mate..

Oh Yeah, the weights in the canopy is to balance the CoG

            Calm Down??

Forget about that, thats in the past.....

Sqwidge is a beginner, so hes bound to make mistakes about these things..

i think you were called a **** because of your attitude and your posts were preaching.

im not complaining about the price.

im not interested in what you said or who was right or wrong.

there was a pile of bits that were not shite, just the previous owner lacked the skill to assemble.

im quite happy with my purchase just needed a bit more setting up than i had thought.

grant85 please dont reply as you just want to re-start an argument that got a previous thread closed.

              thanks

I'd just like to come in here. That was originally my Belt CP which Sqwidge bought from me in tip top condition. It was at that time as well set up as I believe it could have been - flew beautifully and hands-off in the hover for up to three or four seconds. He immediately tried to fly it and crashed it.

It was clear he didn't have a clue as to how to go about fixing it, and I helped him in as much as I could from afar. I then watched with horror the unfolding saga when he declared the servos knackered, the CofG too far aft, moving the gyro, changing the head and tail, the radio gear etc etc etc.

The CofG was aft, as is the case with all Belt CPs, but all my advice was immediately ignored as he got himself deeper and deeper into the mire. I repeatedly advised him to carefully adjust the bell mixing to counteract the effect of the slightly aft CofG and that there really was no need to add weights to the canopy. (This was learned after many hours of research, both theoretical and practical).

I was really sorry to see the old bird go as I'd become strangely attached to it, it having taught me so much, but I never flew it any more and wanted someone else to enjoy it as much as I had. I hope Mike, you get that enjoyment - it's a cracking little heli once set up, but does require some tweaking (and it's probably fair to say some knowledge) to keep it so.

                    well it can fly !

i had to fit the spare blade 400 swash assembly as the plastic arms on the esky ones were broken but i trimmed it up and it flys ok. (uploading video now.)

its quite windy here so not managed to test it properly, but will do at the weekend.

Glad to hear it was only minor things that were wrong with it, i guess my noobism and lack of knowledge shone through.

The other gyro is in the post for you, if i had known what you know maybe i wouldnt have so many problems but i guess its just something to be learned along a very long road.

Im glad your happy with your buy though as i woulda refunded you if not, and cheers for the offering of help, no doubt i will call upon you for that at some point.
