sonofdelboy is a young lad (read kid )
no doubt he'll pick it up in a week and be doing sustained chaos before the month is out

    seriously tho
Liam you'll get no idea of how long it will take YOU to learn by comparing how long it took others...
everybody learns different things at different rates.
you may be a natural... you may be a cack handed buffoon with 2 left hands.
only way you are going to find out is to try.

just take it slow and don't try running before you can walk. join a club and soak up all the advice you can.
you have youth on your side and judging by todays playstation generation you'll get there quicker than us old gits

It's taken me maybe 4 or 5 years to get to basic sports flying although I've progressed the most since I joined a really supportive club. Sadly it's not an easy thing to do but that makes it all the more satisfying. Don't rush yourself into anything liam, it'll just end in a binbag or broken bits and an empty wallet.

6 months from help of a sim though its nothing like the sims today other than the £30 & £40 squid jobbies........8's stall turns nose-in circles / take off's-landings rolls loops and to be honest lol i haven't really come on since (same old same!!) although i now need to convert certain moves i've recently learnt on the Phoenix to actual flight.

              Hi Liam

Got my first heli last Christmas which was a twister medivac. Soon after I got a twister 3d storm along with realflight G4 sim. Half way through the year I ended up getting a Trex 600NSP. On the sim I can buzz around without much problem doing loops, 8's, stall turns and all that. When I try and put that in practice on my 600 I become a jibbering wreck and loose all confidence.

I got myself a little mcx for inhouse fun and that I can buzz around no problem.

It's each to their own as to how long it takes and as other people say, you are always learning. I don't care how long it takes for me to fly to a decent level as I do it for fun and thats the main thing. Hopefully this year I will get better as I will have more time to fly.

Just enjoy your helis Liam and have fun with them.
