You never stop learning so... I still am

shown once how to start it and then on my own, No Sim either and still to this day rarely use a Sim even now.

flew in all weather but I refuse to fly with frozen thumbs now I've learnt that theres no point flying if you cannot feel the thumbs to land it back safely.

It takes everyone different amounts of time to learn, some can 3D in less than a year me 5-6 years no 3D yet....

if it helps i started in oct with a twister hawk got bored with that then got a s/h shuttle only done about half a gallon in it but can hover for nearly a tank, i have a walkera 4#3b its very good for learning heli control, i have also got a t rex 600n but not flown it yet. i agree with the others that knowing what i do now i dont think you will ever stop learning.

Like many I've been flying helis for over 20 years and I'm also still learning! I still fly all year round although this winter has been so cold flying sessions are becoming very short!

How fast you learn is down to aptitude, stick & simulator time, we have a guy at our club who brought his new Trex 600 down to the field for it's first flight in March last year. He'd already spent 3 months practising on Phoenix and setting hos heli up all it needed was a few clicks of trim here & there. He hovered out 3 tanks that first day, even though it was blowing hard and I'd advised him to leave it for a better day. Now he's pushing me on, keeping up with his progress is improving my fling!

I bought a Blade CX2 last September and crashed it countless times in my garage, no sim at that time. Three weeks later I bought a Blade 400 and crashed that every time I flew it, now had Phoenix.
Six weeks later I bought a T Rex 600 Nitro Sport and the CX2 hasn't been touched since. I've been having lessons on a buddy box at my local club and I can now take off, hover tail in and both sides and land, slow piro's are iffy though! Not exactly lightning progress but progress. At the end of each day's flying the 600 I take the Blade 400 out and yes I'm still crashing it pretty much every flight, it's so twitchy compared with the 600 even with Boggy's settings.
I need to move on to nose in hovering next but having taken this up at 50 it's more than likely I'll pop my clogs before I stop learning
