Mine is about 10% open. It's really trial & error. Using the throttle cut shuts the throttle to zero & kills the engine, so I have the trim set centre so I can adjust the tickover and start trim.
You will need to set the tickover and start speed roughly using the end-points and then trim to suit. But try about 10% throttle to start with. Remember to always hold the head firmly as you start. If it's a hot-start you will be able to control the head.
