it's something to do with the latency and resolution being incompatible with the buddy cable, so they just removed it to save any confusion.

What price for second hand DX7?

ashley, i've been told exactly why this is and it's because they have had to overclock the cpu effectively which means the timing for the ppm stream is out. this means a buddy box is a no go as the timing wouldn't match up.
i'm sorry if thats not exactly right but it was something along those lines.
cheers

well the new one is 2048 res and the old one is 1048 res
Although I surprised they couldn't make it drop the res for buddying up or put a note in the manual only buddy to another dx7 se

I really don't get all this stuff to be honestOriginally posted by raptorheli2 View Postashley, i've been told exactly why this is and it's because they have had to overclock the cpu effectively which means the timing for the ppm stream is out. this means a buddy box is a no go as the timing wouldn't match up.

I know I'm a noddy compared to most on here but I can't say I notice any real difference between 35Mhz and Spektrum 2.4Ghz? Only thing I used to notice sometimes was when a PCM Rx would partially lockout and give a slightly jagged feel to a flight with a plank or heli...
The other thing I don't really get is why so many people on here are fitting JR servos running at 8v and messing their pants about the speed and trying to convince all and sundry to fit the same...Then in another thread we have a known good pilot(robgt) enthusing about Align 610's in a couple or more of his helis which are far cheaper, run far lower voltages and of <dubious> quality and speed but do him fine?
Seems to me it's a bit like slimming pills or wrinkle cream where the people who have been conned into buying the stuff propagate the myth?
Discuss...

phil, i'm no genious with this stuff either but i'll try to explain what i have picked up on this.
first of all 2.4ghz offers little or no speed increase (sometimes it's slower) over our old 35mhz systems because we are kind of still piggy backing the old system to shunt our new 2.4 over. where some will see a benefit is going from an older design radio to the dx7 for example. also never discount the placebo effect with this stuff.
when i went from a 9x2 to my 14mz (35mhz-35mhz) i went to 2048 and it was quicker as has been proven. i wouldn't say i felt it quicker but more connected is a better term....placebo perhaps!
as for the servos rob mentions. i think you'll find that converstation is relative. rob also says he has broken those servos with no crashes but he hadn't noticed. the fact of the matter is the align servo or any servo for that matter will work but some people like the extra performance/quality/warranty given by the 8915's to use your example. i've crashed mine pretty hard and never broke a case or even a gear.
i only say this about everything, buy the best you can afford that will do the job and live happy.

smoothound..your bang on mate
ive met a few OK pilots using mega servos etc and when they fly, they just do mild aero's and stuff..then ive met a few really good pilots just using mid range equipment and flying fantastic.
and think of it like this.there were some great flying a few years ago when this equipment wasnt available..im not saying it not better or anything,im just saying its not essential.and sometimes spending time on the field is maybe a better idea

I was having a convo on MSN as you posted saying pretty much the same but the fact that people are less worried about glitches and lockouts so just fly more confidently
As for the servos I'm a great believer in fitting the best you can afford but if you read the threads it's all based on the added speed etc not a lot else

Yeah Craig, money better spent on more batts, fuel and time than the latest whizz bang servo and Regulator

I'm guessing now but the 8915's are probably both
