  • Twister 3D Storm crash problems

Hi, me again with ANOTHER problem with my twister 3d storm, although since last time, I have been able to get it off the ground and hover it a bit, But I was hovering it the other day when it randomly spazzed out and rolled into the wall, hopefully this was from the battery was low, I went home and hovered it again to notice it was violently shaking, this is because the main blade grip spindle was bent, so I replaced that and then realized one of the servos was playing up, so I replaced it with a Hitec feather servo, but now when I turn the helicopter on, instead of the pitch increasing as i increase throttle, the whole swashplate moves, and some of the movements the servos do just do not look right, I have checked the channels for the helicopter and it is all fine, can you guys please help me with this I have no idea?

    Thank you soo much, Lincoln.

Walkera HM 5-10: flies beautifully, but servos are pretty weak, battery takes AGES to charge.

Twister 3D Storm: still working out the kinks!!!

your cyclic servos need to be of the same type/spec otherwise they will not work together as they should ie they need to be same speed, torque etc so that when your tx gives a ccpm command all the servos translate the commands in the same way and give the output in the same way.

To add to what pieter has said the whole of the swash plate should move downwards for more lift/collective/pitch though like Pieter has stated you should always use the same spec servos on either 3ccpm 4ccpm cyclic]pitch etc........it maybe that your gearset in the bad servo needs changing and was only notchy = £2 max or eqiverlent......i changed 2 servos out with new gearsets and all was well and another item to check is the tail output shaft as its VERY easy to bend as i've bent a couple only on quite light touches on some shoes after running it up in the house...........they bend for fun even the upgraded shaft that come with the cnc gearbox.

Ok, so I should replace the feather servo with one of the roiginal ones? will do, and are thecyclic servos just the ones that move the swashplate?

yep the three that connect to the swash are the cyclic servos and should be the same type/spec
the tail can and should be specific for tail use

You may find that the servo that was "playing up" just needs a set of gears. It's a bit fiddly to change them but fairly straightforward if you go slowly... gear sets are only a couple of quid - I;ve changed loads on my Blade 400. How exactly was it "playing up"?

Well, It would make a really bad and loud noise like the gears were shredding and I couldnt make it do anything!

                Hi helibo

Sounds like one or more gears are stripped. I would go and get a gear set and replace them. After all, you've got nothing to lose if you think its trashed anyway - the gear sets are cheap. I've stripped 7 or 8 servo gears with my Blade.

Take a look at http://www.repairblade400.com/ to see how to change the gears - the servos on the Blade are identical to the Twister Storm - I've used their gear sets when the E-flite ones weren't available...

Let us know how you get on.

Have you checked your main gear for missing teeth?
Sounds like that if its loud.
Although servos with broken gears can make a racket too.

Could be wrong but I think we're talking servo gears here not main gears??

helibo swap the tail servo to the swash and put the hitec on the tail. (the hitec servo works in reverse to the originals and thats why its not working sas it should.
you will have to reverse the gyro(switch on the side) and reverse the rudd channel in your tx. test it slowly to make sure the tail holds before you lift off

the 7.5 EnErG servos that come with the 3d storm are only £8 so if changing gears doesnt help then give ade at HH a ring and he should help you

Great, thanks alot you guys, I just put the feather servo on the tail and it works now I may also think about upgrading my cyclic servos to titanium geared servos, what do you guys think? when I told my local hobby shop about this servo problem, they wanted me to spend $65 on a new receiver, So I am really grateful for all your fast replies.

                            Thanks alot, Lincoln.

Whoops, forget to put it in there but to get the new tit geared servos, I would need to buy all three for the cyclic or else this same problem will happen again right? and if anyone does have or know alot about the twister 3d storm, can you recommend ( don't worry about price) me a good cyclic servo?

                              Thanks alot, Lincoln.
