Ill not bite there, i was clearly stating that i know almost personally that Tim wouldnt diliberatly offend you mate.

Phil sounds like you have adjusted your rudder Travel Adjust. Theres a gyro limits pot on the top of the 401... this is what you will use so you dont get the binding you experienced. Leave your rudder travel adjust at 100/100 for now. You can use that later to adjust how fast a piro you want. First though before you do anything you want to find a servo arm that will give you 90 degrees to the servo case in normal rate mode. Next you can either centre the pitch slider or if your going to use rate mode then you will want some pitch on the tail blades to keep the tail centred (trial and error later when flying the model and sliding the servo along the boom). After you have 90 servo arm and correct length then adjust the gyro limits pot on the top of the gyro itself so that you get no binding in both directions. Once all that is done and you have an average gain setting programmed then you should flick the gain switch back and forth a couple of times in quick succession. The gyro will then remember the centre point. If you setup normal rate mode then this can help the servos life as its not constantly adjusting and makes the gyro do its job.
Hope that helps but if ya get stuck give me a shout and im happy to explain it on the phone for ya.

    Cheers
    Lee

      Thanks Lee, great answer bud

DOH, it makes sense now. I never thought of the limit pot on the gyro I can't see myself ever flying in rate mode now but I might as well learn how to do it properly.

      Really well explained Lee

Quite easily, As Lee said and as I now state it was not aimed at anyone in this thread or any thread on this forum.

Its a figure of speech and I can't believe youve never heard it before.

You need to get out more.

Some really useful gen here guys, many thanks. Now getting read-in before the maiden flight of the new-to-me GY401-stabilised Raptor 50. My plan to check it out is to place the heli on a flat, freely-rotating surface (as used in some Chinese restaurants) in order to check out the settings before getting airborne.

Thanks Lee. Actually the maiden flight was at 11pm last night in the garden on lights (With training gear on)

Had three flights today and all I can say is WOW what a difference to the Bellt CP Absolutely rock solid, hands off in the hover for over 5 seconds, perfect tail response, and training gear off.

What a day - still buzzing! I now understand gyro gain, throttle and pitch curves, and am no longer intimidated by the fancy electronics on the DX6i.

Needless to say I didn't get alot of work done
