  • GY401 help please

    Hi Guys

Just taken delivery of a Trex 450SE v2 (Thanks Unsung Hero) with GY401 etc.

Just spent a really enjoyable few hours setting it up with my DX6i and am pretty well ready to test fly (I think!!)

Do I have to set up the gyro on the DX6i, and if so can anyone tell me how to do it (The gyro was working before, so I'm wondering if it will be ok to test fly it without any further inputs?)

Thanks for any help - may be a stupid question to you experts, but for us novices with absolutely no experience of the modern electronic tx's it's all abit of a minefield

(Quietly pleased to have got as far as I have on my own)

Oh bloody hell Thanks mate, I'm getting abit knackered now and won't take it in tonight - I'll try again tomorrow

I don't have a manual with the gyro, and the only experience I have with HH gyros is with the cheapo Esky one

Quite a learning curve in this game

Much better setting the gyro menu to INH and using the gear channel Travel Adjust for your gyro gain IMO. Plus i think the gear switch is a more suitable place for it. Each to their own though, do it which ever way you prefer Phil.

        Cheers

No problem! which ever way you end up going / setting your gyro you can only take so much in at first any way......it slowly tricles in and then vualah you know most of what your tx / gyro is all about

I know 1 thing... i hope the guy in that video isnt using a governor on his raptor 60 because it wont work very well with throttle end points like that lol. Even the pitch travel adjust isnt good enough for me haha
            Cheers

                              Am I right in thinking?

                              Back on topic....

I've managed to get the lights working in the correct sequence so I think it's going to work, but....

In rate mode there was far too much travel on the rudder (ie the control slider was hitting the end stop of the tail shaft at about half stick), so I went into travel adjust and set it so that the slider hit the end stop at full stick. The settings are now 56% left; 38% right.

Silly question no1.....is this the right thing to do?

and no2......Have I just adjusted the end points?

I've rebound the rx with these settings, but haven't yet dared try it

btw the centre point of the rudder servo arm wasn't perpendicular to the servo body at neutral trim, so...

silly question no3... do I centre it and guess the servo position by sliding it along the tail shaft, or as it was flying before I bought it should I try it as is and take it from there
