Yeah Ive got reflex, kinda tempted by the online part of phoenix. If its a better sim aswell its another good reason to swap. £80 ist cheap tho.

When I bought Reflex it was over £100 (it's a while back now and I forget, but around the £140 mark...)

It served me well and is a good sim, I just find the physics model in Phoenix more realistic. That's not to say Real, just more realistic.

Phoenix gets a lot right in my opinion and is my current preferred choice of sim.
        Cheers,

Phoenix everytime, I know £80 is quite a bit for a piece of software but it doesn't just stop at your PC.

The skills it'll teach will save you ten fold the crash damage when you start flying.

So it'll save you in the long run and more so when you practice more complex moves before attempting them with your hardware.

phoenix is the best but they do seem to have lost the plot a little recently. especially the fixed wing side of things.

I like Phoenix but it seems very difficult to tip the heli on landing. It skids along on grass quite smoothly and never digs in. Clearview is more realistic on landing. For a new heli pilot this gives you too much confidence. It is also quite difficult for a beginner to set up and there is little help. I haven't managed to use rates yet except on my Dx6i. Apart from ground handling it seems excellent and very enjoyable.

I've seen a vid of someone crashing a heli on perpose using the Phoenix but it didn't show you how excessive the stick position was to do so.........i guess this doesn't prove much in the end , isn't there any way of making it more unstable on landing say by altering the wind speed to full or somethng close for just hovering.

You can edit the strength of the skids so unless you touch down gently, it breaks.

As a learner, you don't want to be landing a helicopter that is moving laterally - it should only be descending vertically. Once you nail that, you should be fine.

I've learnt which landings are likely to damage the heli and which bits. I bent the main shaft recently but didn't damage the nylon gears in the cheap servos which surprized me. Heavy landings don't do as much damage as touching down while moving unless you're on ice. As a beginner I sometimes have to decide when to bale out and the sim doesn't really do that. FMS is more difficult to land without damage. I think Phoenix could do more for people who haven't flown and may not have a tx with rates. Apart from that it's brilliant. The first time I hovered and turned left something clicked and I realised the heli was behaving just as the sim had taught me.

Well its unanimous.. phoenix is better, so I've put my order in for a copy. Should hopefully get a few quid back for Reflex on ebay, just a shame I didnt swap when phoenix first came out and you could sell it for not much less than you payed.

Cheers for voting lads, see you soon for an online session!!
