  • 450 metal gearbox

I've just installed a blue metal gear box on my tail and put everything together, the belt is straight without any snags, and the tail blades are pointing in the correct direction.

Yet every time I start her up she spins in a circle almost as fast as the main rotas.

I've missed something here for sure, can any of you please give some advise on this.

    Thanks.

I'd guess either you've moved the tail servo to the opposite side of the boom, or something in the tail pitch control is now reversed compared to how it used to be; either way, the tail pitch control is reversed compared to what it used to be. If this is the case, you'll need to reverse the gyro, and your radio, too.

The main blades turn clockwise and the tail blades turn up into the wash which is anti-clockwise isn't it, so the leading edge of the tail blade when it is at the bottom points forward?

Everything apart from the gearbox change over is in the same pisition, the tail rotas turn clockwise as with the main rotas, is this where the trouble lies?

THe leading edge of the bottom tail blade faces forward. When the l/e of the main blades is turned (clockwise) the tail blade l/e follows.

Many thanks that's cured it, idiot I should have realized that to Begin with!

                        Cheers guys.

Now I have my ongoing tail wagging problem to still deal with, this is the question I asked last but no one commented, can someone please give me a quick clue what to do, and will it stop the tail wagging.

                        Thanks.

OK this is the last of the nub nut Q's I hope , it says I need to plug the BEC plug into the Throttle port on the RX, before I start to unravel tons of cable tidy this needs to be done yes?

Now I have to admit I need help understanding what the Braking settings do? what is the best for my 450?

Also the electric timing, what is that, and the best settings, the battery protection I usually have at high discharge.

So when I start the programing of the ESC do I go through the process all in one go from start to finish?

Again many kind thanks for any help provided.

I just set BEC at the factory defaults.

The timing is really about the oomph the ESC gives the motor. The instructions should show the settings. 2 pole motors use low, 6 pole or more mid timing. High timing is for more power but with less efficiency.

Batt protection default is low position.

                          I think brake is disabled.

I think - not sure - you can go through the process and change what you want & leave what you want. Just reading the manual now!!!)

Edit - looks like you have to decide your settings and indicate each one using the throttle stick during the tones. Guess that includes the ones you don't want to change.

hi wayne yes you do ,for helis you do not use the brake,as it says high timing gives more power but also a high load on the battery i would think mid timing would suit and battery set at mid would give you a warning at 65% but try steps 1 to 4 and return stick to low point and try the default setting first you might find these will work well and if not just work out what you would like to change and we will be here to help

Many thanks fellas, I've got a hunch my S3153 is mullered, I've been through the ESC settings with Jamie earlier this evening and the ESC seems to be set fine, which leads to the Tail Servo, and I fear the numb nut crash I had last week must have damaged something inside it.

So for the sake of my sanity I'm ordering a new one tomorrow and going on from there.

As I say she flys fine, the HH holds in fine, only the tail seems to have a Benny here and there while airborne hence why I'm changing the servo.
