Brilliant, I see we're not looking to argue your point then

Hmm, recap...... It's browning out on the bench, without flying loads and any gyro sensing responses to airframe attitude changes being sent to the servos! If this isn't the first sign the ESC is maybe the part that needs go back to be checked by the professionals I don't know what is.

To me this rules out back EMF, a simple capacitor fix and the 3 wise men coming in to help.

As I've already said and yourself I'll add, the servos and flybarless controller aren't immune from being a potential cause and can be easily ruled out by the test Stocksy is going to perform with either a seperate power source or different ESC in the most part.

    Wow, forum life eh!

Stocksy keep us posted buddy, I'm not going to fuel the self proclaimed experts any further.

I'll happily eat humble pie if it's not the ESC, but I won't half chuckle over this conversation if it is!

      Ian,

The reality is at this point it could be any number of things including (off the cuff):
      • Faulty servo
      • Incompatible equipment (eg Demon FBL with speky sats)
      • Under-rated BEC
      • Faulty BEC
      • Failure to fit capacitor as per ESC manufacturer advice

Take your pick what to eliminate first but I choose the easy/cheap option first. Unless I had a suitable spare ESC then returning the ESC would be my final option purely because it's likely to leave the heli grounded for weeks while it goes to god knows where for testing. I'd want to have ruled out other options first.

I really don't think this is such a daft way to approach the problem.

I am glad that you are continuing to give us the benefit of your wisdom Ian. The vast majority of members on here don't have your experience and knowledge.

I am sorry that many of the other professionals don't help us in the same way. I appreciate that there are people who will attempt to detract from their advice for commercial or political reasons but that is a shame.

You do a grand job. You have given me good advice in the past and I have never known you to be wrong.

What FBL and receiver are you using? A flying buddy had endless troubles running Speky sats off a Bavarian Demon. Tried everything to fix it, capacitors, new ESC, stand alone high rated BEC, nothing worked. In the end it turned out that it's a known issue with the Demon, it cant supply stable power to sat receivers, so you have to use a stand alone conventional receiver.

running mini vbar with spektrum sats mate works fine with my kontronik gear lol

                Hey Buddy.

Awesome news, well done on the fault finding. It had to be something simple, however annoying at the end of the day for a brand new item, but I will be keen to hear on the response by the retailer once they evaluate the ESC. The other thing is even if you would have got that ESC going, would you have felt confident in it? I know I wouldn't have.

The Vbar's are well known to be very conservative on power demands, as they are so well refined after the many years of evolution.

Go and enjoy the model when you can, probably won't happen this weekend though unless you can change it into a boat :-)
