Servo Mounting Rubbers or No Rubbers ??????

Having built various new kits over the years and used various servos , do you use the rubbers supplied or just hard mount them . Its a simply question and I'm just looking for other peoples opinions please ?

I personally have hard mounted most of the servos I have used and opted to use the rubbers on a nitro install on occasions ?

Always use them, when they're pulled down I doubt there's any difference to hard mounting. I like the though that there's less vibration getting to them even in a leccy frame.

I've done both and depends on the servo casing. If it's plastic tend to use the rubbers, if it's metal hard mount and if it's Nitro rubbers. Sometimes the manual specifies the useage as well in that case follow that.

My thoughts exactly, iv used them on everything except for old 450s etc where either the servo or the mount is plastic. Id never go metal to metal

I usually use them but purely for the reason that if you don't use them the mounting holes are too big and the servo can slop around on the mounting screws and may not get positioned accurately and/or may move in use. The rubbers and gromets at least fill in the hole. Other than that IMHO they serve no useful purpose, they are a throw back to when servos and their internal electronics were fragile and needed isolating from vibrations.

Ideally for me servos would be supplied with metal spacers that fitted in the holes taking up the slack which you could use if you didn't want to use the grommets... Don't know if anyone makes such a thing?

It depends, but I generally clamp the servos rigidly in place (eg Goblin 500); preferably butted up against something, to give a datum.

On the T-Rex 500 (Pro ?), the grommets seemed required, and 'natural'.

I get a plastic fork in my tesco fruit salad ..........I don't use that either

Hard mount with carbon spacers...dont like the look of the rubber squeeziong out of the servos nor the not so solid feel when tightening the servos to the frame with brass bushings in place...brass and rubber is for balsa IMO

Fit on Nitro.

I fit or don't fit on electric depending on the manual (some say don't fit them, other say do), push rod geometry, convenience.
