But if you go for an AR7210BX you get an easy to set up FBL that has all the SAFE modes you find on BNF micros and full rescue when you get beyond the need for self-levelling in normal flight. For a beginner learning to fly I think it would be well worth the cost difference over a cheaper AR2700BX with no self-levelling or rescue capability at all.

All my models are now using the Brain with the Rescue enabled, works extremely well and it's been used a couple of times in 'real' rescue moments when trying new manoeuvres.

Don't understand why you wouldn't want to have something that can save you from crashing, don't think there is anything gained from that terrible feeling of picking up a crashed model, especially as a beginner.

It doesn't make you any less of a pilot...........!!

Regardless of any fbl unit/bailout' there's always going to be an element of risk, its good to have it but I still think the best way is to learn a bailout with any new manoeuvres, as well to mention with fbl units" flying has never been so enjoyable more so with the range of fbl parameters to suit all flyers, that in itself is a bailout imo.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

I use spirit its excellent, saved me many times while trying new things. Not sure it would have helped me as a beginner, although it does have a self level option which is adjustable depending on the amount of help you need. Never tried it though. I think bailout is more for an intermediate pilot. Just my opinion.

I agree, but rescue is great in those moments when you completely run out of talent! But I thought the OP was hinting that the beginner wanted to make use of self-levelling too, which helped me a lot early on too. It's a great confidence booster for someone getting started and didn't seem to harm my flying progression. I weened off self-levelling naturally after about a month or so and haven't used it since, but it was valuable at the time. I think with most modern FBL units now having rescue/self-level functionality it makes sense to start with one of those and have the option.

You've basically answered some of what im saying in you own post, the thread is about bailout & i was just giving advise on more options as we dont want people coming into the sport thinking its the only option into the hobby.
