  • commitment issues?

Ive not long got back into helis and they seem to consume a lot of my daily thinking, as they should. but i could count the number of good flying days we get on one hand here in the uk. Our flying field is wide open for miles around so its rare to fly in less than 10-20mph winds and even then the good days seem to pop up midweek, so its not always easy to get down there.

Should i ring in sick, start lying to friends and family and put helis in front of everything else in life, or just man up and fly in the wind and rain?.

I love helis, but i do sometimes wonder if this hobby is too weather dependant for our uk summers. I guess that perfect day down the flying field we get every now and then makes it all worth while though.

No fly in the wind, we live in the UK so part of the hobby I'm afraid, don't fly in the rain, not good for electronics and of course lie to your family and friends, call in sick and fly even when you should be doing something else

The weather is what it is and there is nothing we can do to change it, so I guess we just have to make the best of a normally windy situation.

With regard to commitment, you have got to ask yourself how much you would miss it if you didn't fly. If you are constantly thinking of helicopters like me, then you will probably be climbing the walls when you are not flying.

I'm old, but if you are young then you probably need a social life as well. You just have to balance your priorities and make the most of what is sometimes not an ideal situation.

My wife has always said it's better to fly week days so she has me home weekends
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

          Wind is character building.

I have slowly come to the realisation that it does improve my ability just preventing it from crashing in windy conditions. When there is no wind it is a joy. All the manoeuvres are easy and the flying is good fun.

We have to take what we can when we can get it.

yes mate fly in the wind it helps loads when it is calm, I live 5 mins away from you and built my goblin for the new year, she has logged just over 400 flights so far and I fly as often as I can no less than 3 times a week, don't let the wind spoil it, punch a big goblin hole straight through it. ;-)

it is too windy to fly a model when the model gets blown backwards at full throttle into wind
              so man up
              and go fly
              wind or not

I'm the exact opposite right now. I live about 3 mins from the local flying field and actually there have been tons of days recently with little or no wind and I'm actually finding excuses not to fly. I don't what the heck is up with me right now...
