I hadn't flown for over 7 weeks because of being away at work.
I had a couple of flights on my G570 to try and shake the rust off, then when my confidence was coming back switched to my new favourite, my 690SX. I was just trying to get my rhythm back and was switching between inverted forwards and inverted backwards when due to rust and a fairly poor sky got my orientation completely wrong, made a correction the wrong way, I was too close to the ground so when I applied negative collective thinking I was going to gain altitude the heli shot sideways and before I had time to correct my new favourite heli was in the ground in pieces. I've now got the expense of the rebuild to look forward to and more importantly the loss of flying time....
Except that's not what happened! I made a total tit of my reverses, corrected the wrong way, realised what was going to happen, flicked rescue, the heli self righted and shot skywards, no harm done! I then practiced the manoeuvre half a dozen times until I was happy, carried on flying and took my new heli home in one piece!
I treat rescue modes like smartphones now. I never knew I needed one until I had one. Now I honestly won't fly without one. They give me so much confidence and what's more, I enjoy flying so much better now with them. I was using the neo yesterday and without a doubt it has already paid for itself.
There are so many good fbl units out there now but I honestly don't think I'll fly one unless it has a rescue mode now.
I'm just wondering if anybody else is the same as me now?
I really hope all fbl manufacturers go this way as for me now, they really are important.
Paul.
