  • What the hell have I just bought???

    Hello guys,
I saw what looked to be a nice Hirobo Sceadu on fleebay and I want another heli to practice on as I dont want to kill my raptor just yet!
Anyway, turns out it was terrible but he said he had something else that he would show me, and me being me I got overwhelmed with the urge
to waste some money so I ended up with this huge A109 with a helicopter somewhere inside He said £80 and I got carried away. Have I just been my usual stupid self and bought a
    piece of crap?

    Thanks,
    Jake!

It has the potential to being a nice scale model, its not a learner machine.

It will be an ideal winter pull apart and rebuild project matey if you fancy having a go at that sort of project.

    £80 is a bargain

I don't know if it's in flyable condition but it looks like a really old forgotten heli.

If I saw that for £80 then I would have bought it. However it doesn't really meet your requirements for something to practice on. That A109 might take some work before it's flying, and it might not be easy to fly either.

To be honest I'll probably just try to sell and get my money back. Yet another stupid impulse buy!
            Thanks,

Clean it up and sell it for parts? Got to be £80 worth of bits there to an old model enthusiast?

I wouldn't call it a pile of dross, but I would definitely call it a challenge. I wouldn't mind something like that to while away the winter nights. I think that engine would be better off in an aeroplane.

It's what I would call a pile as vintage scale holds no interest for me nor if Jake were honest for him either. He wants to learn to fly, buy some fuel for the Raptor and put some stick time in, if you want to fantasize about stooging around the field with an out of date hard to come by spares type of heli then stick with it. I reckon Jake will bite your hand off Graham Offer him £60 and I reckon it's yours, complete with woodies

Only pulling your leg Graham but if Jake is serious then this isn't the best way to spend his money IMO Jake join a club, buy some fuel, some cold weather gear and a woolly hat and get out there

If all Jake want's to do is learn to fly then yes, big mistake with the A109. The money should have been saved for fuel and Raptor spares. I saw the video of Jake with the Raptor and he definitely has something solid to work on there, and as you say, he should stick with it and not lose focus.

Jake, give your heli budget to someone else to manage for you. It would be like power of attorney but for heli related things only.
