  • Nitro Resurgence - What's Up?

Okay, what's up with the nitro resurgence? 6 months ago everybody was saying electric was the future and they were happy to be out of nitro and would never ever return to it,.... ever!!

But,... Look!! Now everyone is returning to nitro.... What's up with that??

    Is it a fashion thing?

Is it a sheep thing? Where one does it and everyone follows, perhaps somebody high profile?

Not wanting to start an argument but i am just sat here looking out of the window of my man cave unable to fly due to poor weather and wondering what has made people change direction, especially those who would argue until they were blue in the face that electric was the future and nitro was the devil.

So,. lets see what's changed everyone's minds.... Go!!

I think the release of new nitro models such as the synergy n7, gaui nx4 and nx7 has brought this on. A year back there weren't any new nitros being released

A lot of this this hobby is a sheep thing lol, I still have a mixture of both, but haven't touched a nitro most of last year. I do prefer electric because of the cleaning, but do like a longer flight times as well.

I don't think it's down to anything really. Most fly both, I do and love both for different reasons. Flight time does come into play and I've always believed nitro improves your collective control as you haven't got oodles of raw power on tap. I think nitros fly better, leccys tend to be heavier and don't lose that weight as the flight goes on where the nitro gets lighter, you tend not to hang on to a nitro where a leccy you hold back. I just think the forum has a few more nitro posts than normal so it looks like there's a resurgence

For me, personally, i got sick of being told what i was missing by Nitro guys…. so i decided to find out what all the fuss is about for myself.

Although, i have never once said "i will never fly Nitro" so i don't really fit into the category you speak off i guess.

Charging all those batteries just drives me mad, sold all my electric models, everything is Nitro. Did not like the short flight time either, hours of charging for 4 minute flights, when you crashed you always had to factor in the cost of the (usually) wrecked battery as well, which seemed to make it even more mega expensive than the hobby allready is

Gotta admit as well i always have the thought of buying a nitro in the back of my mind but i've come from nitro so never been against them...

I miss the fill and fly aspect along with the flight times and having to remove the canopy after every flight to change flight packs actually drives me nuts lol, came very close to buying a 600n on here a little while back but need to offload some stuff first before i decide what to do... Buy a full second hand nitro setup for about £4-500, or buy a generator to charge at the field AND a second decent size electric...

                  Decisions decision hmmmm...

I think there is no right or wrong power plant,as its a hobby like myself I assume people will go with what is of interest to them at the time.

New Nitro engines and models may draw their attention back to it of they ever quit for electric.

Personally I gave up on nitro must be 2 to 3 years ago,i fly electric only now and that's where my passion is and Nitro does nothing for me now personally.

As ChrisB Says its a hobby fly what interests you. I have not had electric bigger than a 500. I love the nitros they are my main fleet. I don't mind the noise the smell and tinkering everyone seems to moan about. I think it was the little Gaui that peaked every bodies re-interest in nitro and it seems to have snowballed .

I got back into Nitro 700 last year after going all electric for 2 years. Really pleased I did so, the feel is so different. I think if you can afford it then the best option is to have nitro and electric helis in your fleet then you can take out whatever you feel like on the day and have the best of both worlds.

Granted the Nx4 did have a brief spell of popularity but that was back in 2012/2013 when it was released, this being down to it being different and new in its class and category but most seemed to vanish as they were sold on bringing peanuts.

It just seems that within the last month or two that nitro has come back with a bang, nothing new has come out to radically change people's mind set! the synergy n7 was released a year ago, the nx4 is over 2 years old and people are converting raptor G4's and Rave Env's to nitro ..... so what's caused it? what has caused this change?

It's just a subject some of us have had down the field taking the pi$$, as john who was an avid electric only man has now been and got himself a rave env NITRO!!!! have'nt you john?? This change coming from a man who swore he would never touch another nitro as long as he lived and breathed!! Sorry john!!

Well for me I spat my lolly out when I was having a bloody nightmare with a couple of 50's that wouldnt run right for love nor money, And I had just sampled the gooey goodness that is Goblin ownership. So I upped and sold the bloody lot and bought a load of Goblins.

Regretted every second of it. Not because of the Goblins, I just missed having a great 90 sized nitro in my fleet.

I now have a Synergy N9 and have just bought a Trex 700n this morning.

For me electric is where its at, you cant beat the simplicity, ease of use and overall the amount of fooking power they produce! But there is just something about a decent nitro that cant be beat imho
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod
