People say you need better collective management with a nitro, which I would have agreed with during my transition from nitro to electric but on the other hand now I've flown electrics for a while I think you need equally good collective control for an electric Heli for the reasons waveydave said in an earlier post. Use too much and it can easily run away from you So you need to use collective control to counteract that. Same amount of collective control just at opposite ends of the scale if that makes sense

I agree…. i have been told for years "yeh, you can fly an electric well, but you won't be able to fly a Nitro because the collective takes so much work"

What an absolute load of rubbish!!!!!!! Absolute nonsense. The collective on a Nitro is so much easier than electric. Actually, the ease of the collective is one of the reasons it is so much fun imo. So much more dynamic plus being able to hear the engine means collective work is very dynamic and simple. Your collective management needs to be much better to fly and electric an electric well

Depends on engine size, my little os37 needs a bit of care taken with just 11 degrees of pitch when at 90% throttle where as my logo 550 at 2000 rpm can handle extreme pitch changes ok.

I agree with Gadget (for once, dont tell him, he wll be unbearable tomorrow LOL)

They both take collective management in their own way. Both in the respect that you dont load the motors up too much, although not too much an issue if using a hoofing great 800 class motor in a 700 LOL. But the biggest one with the electrics is they just disappear if your too rough with the collective. Either they shoot off at a billion miles per hour or bury themselves in the deck and leave a big hole! (Just ask Tom Owen)

With the 105's and 120's there is much more power than we ever used to have on nitros, so you can be a bit rougher with the collective, but then you start edging towards the heli becoming a handfull like the electrics.

6 of one and half a dozen of the other.

Just put myself a 700n together with a 120 in it, shall see how it goes in the morning. id go now but its ****ing down
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod

In my opinion nitro only phased out for the patch of entry level electric helis being so damn cheap to buy all the kit needed.
When you think back a blade 400 3d was £320 for all you needed, a raptor 30, quite a bit more once you bought starting gear, fuel and pump gear, maintenance tool and lubes, rx batts and charger, Tx/rx......the list went on!
The famous blade range including the mcpx rtf kit at £140 ish for all you needed, extra lipos only £5-no problem, a proper crash maybe £20 of damage!

Now they have a nano cpx rtf for £89
My new nx4 would come to 10x that which might still put people off but it's no raptor 30 even with a low head speed!
newer generation nitros really are a new generation, there's power on tap, they are nearly all flybarless and collective management is handled in the same way as electric helis provided the motor is tuned properly, just watch guys like bobby watts or Duncan bossier and listen to a tuned motor :-)

Sure there's soo many more benefits with electric kits but I have to take another hour out of my day to charge 4 lipos for my forza 450 but I can charge a couple of rx lipos for the nx4 in the car on the way to the field- it's cold and unpredictable weather right now so I'd be gutted to get to the field and not discharge my lipos in the most pleasurable way, hence the convenience of nitro especially in winter!

For most nowadays it about the money, why spend £1000 at least building a goblin 500 when you can have a trex 500 dfc for half, because if you had the money you would!

I'm sure one or two of you might agree with some of my dribble based on your own experience

A 90 size may be able to respond well compared to an electric but just try and do a static backflip with an OS32 powered raptor with no governer!!

Its Definately more than that Dave, in last month or so over on FB I've seen Ross Northcott, Nick b, trex pedro, mattie lodge and I think Tim Procter to name a few that have bought nitros and many others buzzing about them. I know Ross got one to fly 'over the winter' but he now has Rctintin building him another so he's obviously enjoying it ?

You're right Don, but most on the list of names above don't use the forum often so i wouldn't know that they'd bought nitro, although I did see Ross's wanted add
