Want to resurrect this thread, i have the old style dx6i and have been using neXt since it first came out, I have it setup as a helicopter in my transmitter and normally use the Flap/Gyro switch for throttle hold as this switch actually allows it to work perfectly. But I would like my proper throttle hold switch to operate autorotation on the sim.

So far I have tried the following. In the heli mode, the sim can sense throttle hold, but I am not able to control pitch on the heli, I can preset the pitch so that when I flip throttle hold the heli doesn't slam in to the ground, but I have no control over the pitch of the heli.

Other thing I tried was setting up a plane model on my transmitter...but I can't get the throttle hold/mix switch to do anything! I've tried changing everything in the transmitter but nothing turns it on.

    Can someone help?

I think you have to assign a different channel, which may mean a different switch on the DX6i, rather than just dropping throttle to zero. I don't use a Spektrum radio, but I believe neXt usually has airplane mode for the sticks, and then channels assigned to various functions such as hold.

This is a fairly common question though as it seems to be a pain to setup, there's a sticky over on Helifreak with a link to a DX6i setup which may be useful:

Thanks for the link, been trying to get it to work all afternoon. But the first reply made has exactly the same problem as I had with his method, but no one answers him! Basically, when I engage throttle hold switch during the calibration, it just prevents the throttle channel from being sensed by neXt. you can see no movement in the channel when throttle hold is on.

Basically I think I need to know how to somehow disconnect throttle and pitch in my transmitter when the throttle hold switch is thrown...

I.E. Can a dx6i expert help explain how to get the throttle switch to only cut the throttle and still allow use of pitch on the collective, how do you seperate these things on a dx6i?

My understanding is that you don't use a throttle hold switch with next. It doesn't want to see the throttle channel going to zero, it wants to see a switch activating a free channel, you shouldn't actually use a true 'throttle hold' feature in your radio at any point during setup as that causes the problem you describe of losing collective control.

What I believe you do is set your TX up in airplane mode, giving you 4 channels which will be used for: aileron, elevator, rudder, collective

Next you map a switch to another channel, and use that for throttle hold. Now I don't know the DX6i, but it may be that you can't use the normal throttle hold switch for this, you may need to map it to another switch. On my radio I can use any switch for any function so I can make this kind of stuff work, but I don't think the Spektrum radios are quite that flexible.

Yes, I had the flap gyro switch working, now it's not and I can't get it to work again! probably inhibited and I'll have to try and find it again:-(

Working off the old switch again! was actually the opposite way around! Inhibiting the gyro function allowed it to function in the neXt sim. Is there a way to inhibit throttle hold switch in the dx6i anyone?

That makes sense, if you inhibit gyro it means you're not sending a gyro signal down that channel, so you can assign that channel to a switch instead :-)

No idea about the throttle hold switch I'm afraid, but if you have the gyro switch working, can't you just ignore the throttle hold switch?
