where do you fly, if space is limited 450L is the better option but flight times are short at around 3.30.

500 is cool to but lipo may cost a little more and take a little more time to charge.

I'd go for the one you feel you will make best progress on, sometimes going bigger can hold you back due fear and crash cost.

Going second hand is a good suggestion if on a budget, means you can spend the money you saved on more lipos

Well at the moment with the MCPX I use the garden and a church hall for indoor flying. I will use the 450/500 at a small field with permission and maybe the garden for orientation practise. I did enjoy the 450 as it wasn't intimidating and like you say very cheap to repair.

Maybe start with a 450L then move up to a 600/700 once funds allow me to join a club and afford the crash costs of the bigger heli's.

Personally I would go for the 500, the trex 450l blades are £23, canopy is about the same the spares really are only a few £ more for the 500. I had a 450l and sold it because really its still just a 450 and doesn't fly as big as a 500, iv owned both.

Align RH50E01XW ALIGN T-Rex 500 PRO DFC Super Combo - BUY NOW@RC711.com, I have ordered from these 3 times now with no customs charges, delivery free upgrade to dhl, it works out at about £430 delvered incl £30 postage .
I wouldn't buy second hand when you can get them new for that.

Also you could sell the 3gx off and get £40ish and get a ar7200bx for about £90 used on here which is what they have been going for lately.

Thanks Simon I had completely forgotten about ordering from outside the UK.

I will have to have a look in to it...

Go for the Trex500, flies much better than a 450.
If you want a 6s 450 size you are better off going for a Warp 360, it flies like a 500 size.

I just sold my Trex 500 DFC conversion as bind n fly for £250 with no lipos and in good condition.
I am selling my trex 450 with 8 lipos, in a flight case for £250, all it needs is a FBL controller.

That should give you an idea of pricing.

It looks as if you have your heart set on the 450L. If so, just go for it. This hobby is about enjoying yourself.

Thanks I will have a look into the warp 360 although I think I'm going to go with the 500 as the opinion seems to be the 500 is a overall better flyer.

If somebody said to me, we are removing you're entire fleet of heli's, and we will leave you with only one. of you're choice!

I would keep the 500 pro dfc, honestly!!, its unbeatable all-rounder.

Come on, the best all rounder by a mile is the 550, the 500 is no where near as stable or able

Because the OP is debating between a 450 and a 500.

My comment took that into consideration, also i can fly my 500 at my local park, and at a push fly small circuits in my garden.

I fly my 700's the most, but left with a choice of one i can fly the 500 almost anwhere, so in my opinion its the best all rounder.

You did say "entire fleet" bud.
But in this instance I would agree, 500 over 450 every day
I only have a 450 size due to a club rule and evening flying, otherwise I would only have 700+ size with my 550 as a back up.

I've had a good look at some alternatives and gone over everything I can think of and am going with the 500.

Parts and battery costs are very minor over the 450. And the better stability and flight times will also help with my confidence.

Thanks for all your comments, opinions and suggestions it helped me decide and think of things I hadn't thought of.

                                Hi

I got it from 711 in the end and risked the duty and charges. Even with the charges it would of worked out about £35-£45 but luckily no charges so saved a good few £££.

The money saved will be going towards a FBL system and a better tail servo.

I still can't make my mind up which FBL unit to use. Things have come on along way since I've been away.
