Another what heli thread...

Hi

After getting a nice unexpected lump of cash I was going to spend it on a nice shiny T-rex 600 Pro DFC. But after a slight hiccup with me not paying my National insurance for the last 18 months, for some reason I cancelled the direct debit, my budget has been reduced. Im now looking at a 450/500 size heli to get me going again. I was leaning towards the 500 as its more stable in the air but then the 450L dominator came along. From what I can work out size wise its in-between the normal 450 and 500 size. Also the reviews say its almost as stable as a 500 due to longer tail and bigger main blades and has loads of power due to 6s batteries. With the 450/dominator option it free's up cash to buy some spares but the 500 will leave nothing left for spares.

What I want to know is, is the 450L Dominator as good a choice as a 500 DFC?

In my budget I have allowed for a charger, batteries and maybe a mini v-bar (Secondhand). Both kits have the 3gx removed too.

Hi

My budget just for the heli is £475 with £250 put by for charger, batteries and FBL controller. I already have a DX8 and a mCP X BL which I've been using to re learn my orientations and circuits on. I'm at the stage now where i can hold a nose in hover and do slightly sloppy figure 8's.

Agree with Dave, look at secondhand models. Most models sold on here are in good condition and well looked after.
I sold a MINT T-rex 500 that only had three flights on it. So about 15 minutes flight time and I got £360 for it and it was all setup as a bind and fly and I even threw in a brand new 6 cell lipo. The guy that bought it off me got a right bargain!

I have had a look about for second hand heli's but can't find anything close to what I want at the moment. I did find a 500 on eBay that looked good but the seller had overpriced it and spent loads on upgrades that I didn't want to pay for. The price he wanted was £5 cheaper then a new 500 DFC super combo kit.

Delarado is selling a 500 on here with loads of bits with it, lipos etc at a fair price and it looks mint!

I do keep looking at that one. It does seem a very good deal. And it's just been reduced to close to my budget. I think a PM might be in order once I have the funds in my account.

Fastlads have the trex 500 dfc super combo for £554.99
I know you mentioned that you want to spend around £475 but this already comes with the flybarless controller so would leave you with £170 of the other £250 which you put aside for charger and lipos, a reciever and some spares which should be more than enough mate.

Yes and No!

The 450 L is, as, easy to work on but cheaper to repair, the 500 dfc pro flies way nicer,!

i recently bought a 500 pro/dfc, converted, mint with 3gx and 2 align flight packs for 330 cash. BNF
I love my 450l and my other 3 dominated 450's, but the 500's are better in every way!

Last time I had the 3gx I wasn't happy with it so I was thinking of something else to try for a FBL controller. I liked the AR7200BX and always wanted to try a V-bar. I was hoping to get a mini V-bar secondhand to put in the chosen heli.

Hi

I just can't seem to make my mind up which one I like. I loved the 450 I had before with the AR7200BX. I'm swaying towards the 500 but I can't get the 450L out of my mind. I like the frame designs and battery tray plus it's 6S. And if I do go for the 450L I get to buy a load of spares so when it goes in I can keep flying.

I did think about going that route too but I won't be getting into 3D until I'm completely happy with my orientation and general flying. I don't think I will put the combo servos under any pressure to perform for a while!
