    Genius stuff, people.
Yes, fun isn't it? they are right though its complicated.

But you can make certain assumptions and generalisations to get an answer that will apply to the majority.

Hello there , I tend to get 25 flights from my turnigy 40c 5000 packs , when used in a rex 550 on a 3.30 min flight , I did recently try 40c 5000 zippie and it lasted less , this is as long as they have survived all the crashes on the way , I'm now gonna start crashing my goblin 500 , using 4000 packs in this one , so time will tell , don't own a generator , just used a borrowed charger off a car batt

It could well be assumptions and generalisations that has upset so many people.

There were claims of hundreds of cycles on packs only to find that a good pilot only got a handful of flights and knew the packs were already on their way out.

It's true though Andy that the way they are flown has a massive imapct on longevity, take Andy for instance he can tell a pack is on it's way out after 30 to 40 cycles but his flying is far more agressive than someone who is getting the reputed 200 cycles, this must be a very lightly stressed pack.

          As for your questions Ade;

How many cycles do you get out of your packs? Didn't fly electric long enough to measure, but when I sold them they had varying cycles on them up to 30 without and degredation

Do you own a generator? No, got one at the club

How much does it cost? Club membership for use

How much fuel does it use? Its diesel and not sure

How much does a decent charger cost these days? Use a PL6 and I got that for about £110, have to add a decent power supply to that though, homemade and about £50

How long do motors last? Never had an issue

Flight Time still around 4.5mins? Tried everything and couldn't get above that significantly, reason I ditched electric, although about to venture again as the TT E700 is so pretty.

          Nitro guys,

Cost of 30% fuel? Don't use it, don't need to. Twenty % is about £21-23 for 4 or 5 litres

How long do engines and their bearings last? Using Rapicon, the best nitro fuel out there if you can get it, (so it's not the best I suppose) you can forget about bearing changes near enough.

well said Dave ... I recently have ditched my Turnigy blues 40C which I had from almost 2 years ago .. 6 packs all well over 80 cycles - for the price that I bought them for and how they served me I would consider this more than reasonable ...

my Haiyin packs are still going strong and they have over 40 cycles already and I will see how my P-Ion packs will do ... but generally I agree that it depends on the pilot and how they get stressed ... I probably could get easily 100 cycles out of a pack that Andy K would throw away after 40 ...

Exactly my point about assumptions by vendors who only watched someone like me fly and after taking a few measurement made the claim of how many cycles were possible.

It's like asking how long a bottle of wine lasts in my house,,,
If I was to drink it, it would last forever...
If my other half was to drink it, 15 minutes.....
