  • Inverted piro circuits

Okay, I've got upright pretty much okay and whether I'm doing it the most economical way I'm not sure but my inputs vary between left aileron and back elevator and right aileron and forward elevator. I correct when the heli is pointing forward and backwards. I can pretty much control them, make them bigger or smaller etc. Is there a better way of doing them IE more of a stir, I'm wondering if the timing is better with a method like that. My inverted isn't bad but I sometimes lose control on the size and I get very nervous when the model is in front of me, whereas not when upright. Any advice would be great.

I finally got them sorted Dave although I only use the two ail points corrected head up and head down. It's taken me a loooooong time to understand the physics of what I needed to do. I struggled on the sim for months and months then got it one day after standing next to Shauny ( thanks mate )

Still only clockwise but small steps lol

I tend to stick with AntiClockwise and piro to the left, inverted clockwise and piro to the left. I'm struggling with inverted though

I found doing lots of inverted funnels really helped me to keep them in shape. I find the hardest part of the circuit as it's just gone past me

The most important thing I found when learning piro circuits is to be able to fully control a stationary piro (upright or inverted).

In fairness I can do that upright no bother, for some reason I've never tried that inverted. Some sim time coming up methinks, 2 aims this year, not muchtime left though. Inverted piro circuit and piro loop. Both hopefully achieveable before the end of the year

So do you follow the tail with the cyclic Pete or just add corrections where necessary

I kind of 'stir' Dave. Literally only tickling the cyclic around centre but following the piro rate if that makes sense.

Once stationary piro's are nailed you should start to be able to move it around, but bringing it back into a stationary piro at any point.

Another way to learn is to switch from forwards to backwards inverted whilst flying the circuit. Start by breaking the circuit up into quarters then adding in more switches until you have a controlled and continuous piro around the circuit.

Piro hurricanes require only a touch more cyclic but much more pitch to keep the angle of the disk.

Its always best to have full control of stationary piro's first though

                  Cheers

Some good advice from Pete,i am happy with my inverted piro circuits/hurricanes and getting there upright.

I did you a short sim clip last night then forgot to add it here for you lol

That's normal, you can't see the angle and most common mistake is to lag the tail. I have the same issue.

I tend to try & fly through it nudging the heli in the required direction regardless of orientation. I've not done it much & I've only managed a full circle twice. Any how Dave, how's the piro tic tocs??

I went flying after my previous post and as I couldn
't fly I decided to give the tic tics another bash & finaly cracked them like on my video. The hemi was vibrating a bit though which once I landed had a fright!! Feathering screw backed right out....seconds from disaster. I'd forgot to loktite it. I'll post a pic when I have the laptop running again
