I doubt it would fly in a controlled way at 35 mph.

It's beyond a joke really. For the longest time it was cold and wet so as soon as it's no longer cold and we start to think a stretch of flyable weather is on the way then here come the winds.

Ordinarily I'll fly in a pretty good bit of wind but what I need to do now is get in a few more flights with my current FBL controller before I swap it out for a different one so I can compare. There's no way I can judge the feel of the heli properly when it's fighting a barrage of gusts.

But what really annoys me is how utterly useless the forecasts are. Obviously it's not possible to predict the weather with enough accuracy, so it's impossible to plan anything. Last time I checked it was looking like a couple days this week might be decent so with a little luck I'll make up for some lost time on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The really irritating thing is that the wind seems to die down every Monday/Tuesday and then build through the week, peaking at the weekend.

And even if the longterm forecast is for calm next weekend, by the time you get there, only Windy Miller is happy!

Is anyone else getting irritated by this stupid proxy wind? I don't know what it's been like for the rest of the country, but it has been persistently windy for what seems like forever. June has pretty much been a write off in terms of flying for me, I've only managed to get out twice this month! It's not just me, 50% of the display planks from yesterday's Kent airshow didn't fly because of the wind. When will it end!

It's like that every year. May/June is spotty at best. Flying season in this country is bit of March/April (if we are lucky) then 3 months starting July.

                    Sick of this wind

I have been very disappointed with the weather this year, especially the wind. As a learner it really holds me back - lack of confidence flying in the wind as I crash more often, as well as very sporadic flying opportunities meaning it could be a month between flying
I hear that they think we may be getting weather like this for several years now as the Atlantic is warming up or something...

Had a flight on Saturday, I think today might have been better earlier on...

Saturdays wasnt much fun at all. Wind was gusting so much within a second it was popping up or losing 3 or 4 ft... had to be totally concentrating on the collective to keep it in anything like a reasonable hover.....

Blowing a gale all weekend round here, but hasn't stopped me flying !,, hardest part really is landing, otherwise its business as usual.

I do draw the line at wind speeds above 40mph though .
