    Blade: BLH5625 600 X

    BLH5625 600 X Pro Series Helicopter Kit

The Blade 600X is the newest addition to Blade’s Professional series of helicopters, designed for the discerning expert heli pilots.
The 600X makes the leap up from the 550X before it and into the highly competitive world of 600-size helicopters and the exacting world of advanced powerful 3-dimensional aerobatics.
Utilising the high performance Twin Vertical Plate design chassis of it’s smaller sibling, the 600X is immediately endowed with a proven rigid, lightweight core structure that provides the strength to deliver the responsive performance from a 12S Lithium battery powered transmission that today’s extreme 600-size heli 3D pilots demand.
Designed to accommodate two 6S LiPos to provide the 12S input voltage that the motor craves, the 600X chassis retains optimal lateral balance whilst providing the convenience and ease-of-charging for the pilot that 6S batteries enable.
An E-Flite 700-class 500Kv brushless motor is included to help guarantee exhilarating results in this 600-size heli and to provide the motive force to turn the 600mm Revolution cross-woven carbon-fibre main blades no matter how loaded they become during flight.
Direct-to-swash servo control further enhances the responsive nature of the 600X chassis whilst the triple bearing supported 10mm diameter main shaft transmits all the power to the main blades with minimal inertial lag thanks to its hollowed construction.
Drive is also transmitted efficiently to the tail via the torque tube – again, designed to minimize lag and optimize power delivery so that the 600X can pull through the most demanding of manoeuvres and routines with ease, allowing the pilot to fully concentrate without the unnecessary worry of whether their equipment is being pushed beyond its limits.
Lightweight materials, Low Part count and zero-flex design technologies are only a part of the story though. No matter how light a component is, its placement in the airframe can seriously affect the performance of the whole machine.
That’s why the Blade Professional Series engineers have worked incessantly to maintain both static and rotating mass as close to the centre of rotation as possible – thus reducing the 600X’s polar moment of inertia to an absolute minimum.
To the pilot and when in use, all this attention to detail translates into creating a machine that flies and reacts almost as fast as you can think. It might not be for the feint hearted but the 600X provides a near neural-like reflex reaction to any input it receives from the pilot.
The pre-painted fibreglass canopy provides aggressive styling cues to give the 600X that unmistakable ‘Blade’ family look and help produce a smart, sharp looking machine both on the ground or in the air.
Produced as a kit only and requiring assembly, the Blade 600X comes complete with the powerful E-Flite motor and BEC unit but leaves the choice of further electronics and radio equipment down to the individual pilot so that you can made tailored choices to suit your flying style and preferences.

Does anyone else hear 'Ride of The Valkyries' in their heads while reading that description?
Jokes aside Blade has a long way to prove themselves in this part of the market, but if they are going to be price competitive and upgrade quality of their whole lineup (including micros), they may succeed.
Personally I'll not be buying this anytime soon, reason : mediocre quality of their micros leading to lack of trust in big machines and notorious lack of spare parts months after release of new products (both planes and helis)

I have never seen the point of buying anything bigger than the 130x from Eflite. Why would you want to when you can just buy an align combo which is proven and has no spares issues? It's not even like this one comes in BnF format for those that can;t be ar$ed to build!

Well, I have an Blade 550X and an Align 500EFL and I prefer the Blade 550X to the Align. The build was easier, the screws don't feel like they're made out of cheese. Fundamentally, the airframe of the 550X is extremely solid. The ESC that came with the combo however was truly awful - but Blade have learnt from that, and pulled it (and it's not included in this either).

As for BnF - You have to leave behind the mindset of Blade products as pre-built. I doubt anybody would want a factory-built 550 or 600. A personal UBF style pre-built is one thing - mass built BNFs would be something else entirely, and not something I'd welcome. Interestingly, Blade are trying to break into the kit space, just as Align is trying to make inroads into the BNF space (with the 450 plus range).

True - the Align's are proven, but every heli manufacturer that wants to play in this space has to start somewhere. Blade has the advantage of being a proven business with an extremely wide and proven support framework.

I think this looks like a good machine. It's no secret that the 550X was largely a cut-down 600X and this move was widely expected. Aesthetically, I think the machine looks really nice.

FWIW, My 550X, which is stock except a Castle Edge 130 ESC is a lovely machine and flies beatifully. I expect this will just be better ....

The 550X has been an interesting purchase for me. I've had no issues with mine personally except the quality of the original canopy. However, one phone call to HH/UK and a couple of photos as evidence had a new canopy in the post straight away. Personally, I didn't have an issue with my ESC either, but clearly it was a weak point, and although Blade took a while to accept the issue - ultimately, they did and offered everyone money-back against it. I took them up on that offer and replaced mine with a CC Edge 130.

Those two things aside however - I've been really pleased with my heli. The actual airframe is incredibly SOLID. It may not have some of the nice aesthetic features of a certain other manufacturer "Align"ed into this market segment. For example, the swashplate of my 500EFL has nice branding marks on it. The 550X swashplate however looks less refined, but is a solid chunk of metal. Putting aside the ESC, the quality of the 550X/600X is I think at least on a par with Align, and in many ways surpasses them. Bearing in mind that the 600X is just a stretched 550X (the main frame is mostly the same parts).

Time will tell, and I understand people's reticence against Blade in this space - but I would say judge it when you've seen one in the flesh, and don't underestimate them by judging their "Pro" series against their micro range.

Just for the kit this does look a little pricey.

As for the quality, Blade have a lot to do to raise their perception in the larger heli market, as many people judge them by the micros, and they didn't help themselves this time by building the 550x ESC to a tight cost, however they accepted the issue and have been good about it IMO.

I'm currently building a 550x and am happy with the way it's going together so far, it was reasonably priced, seems very solid and I am looking forward to flying it soon.

The 600X kit includes Revolution Blades + a 10A BEC + a 500Kv motor, so the term "kit" is probably a bit misleading.

It's not aggressive pricing sure, which arguably HH should have done to help break them into this sector of the market.
