Yep I understand that, wasn't a pop, just trying to understand how this thing works.Originally posted by t-rex pedro View PostTo be fair, Jamie Robertson, as a recent winner of XFC and 3D Masters, was always going to be selected. I personally am really excited to see him on UK soil.
Cheers
By the sounds of it, when the competitors list comes out it will be one hell of a line-up.
I guess if you want to be in this one, you need to be at international level.
I just hope it doesn't leave the UK in that case.Member of Byley Model Flying Club

Zone last year was such a fun and relaxed event totally fresh and everyone loved it.
The has beens, or never will be's like myself, could fly after the event and the spirit of the whole thing was awsome.
I just hope its as good this year bet if I cant get my flying fix after the event I would rather stay home and fly.
Still I guess I could ask the local clubs for a quick fly.

just to understand it and without wanting to step on someones toes here, but I see various people with various sponsors in their signature. from my business perspective, isn't it in the sponsors interest to have their brands represented at such events? therefore I do wonder in particular why the individual pilots tried to get in rather than a sponsor representative/team captains making sure that their pilots get in or at least get considered, for this event and other? especially as I think its also in their interest that the pilot progresses and represents the brand at as many events as possible ... as I believe some will sponsor the event as well ... if this isn't the case in the rc competition game, isn't this probably worth looking into in future ... just guessing from how sponsor relationships in other areas work ...Last edited by r4nd0m; 20-03-2012, 01:43 PM.Sev

It is a bit different in the heli world.Originally posted by r4nd0m View Postjust guessing from how sponsor relationships in other areas work ...
Most people showing 'sponsored' in their sigs wouldn't be considered as 'sponsored' in most other sports, closer to 'supported' in most cases.

cheers Mark, I'll check the final list when its out just to see if this also applies to the accepted pilots or if that might be an indicator ...Originally posted by Mark_T View PostIt is a bit different in the heli world.

I was just joking...Originally posted by Mark_T View PostThey were good enough to be in the top 8 last year ...
If that was the deal offered back then, it should be honored.
and seriously tho - as mentioned previously, if you guys have proof that those top 8 last year gets in automatically this year, then you should chase it up!
I was going to try and watch it this year but if it's turning out to be a messed up event for uk pilots - then I will stay away to show my support!

Maybe, just maybe, this is a marketing ruse to stir up interest. If it is, then it's been succesful on this forum, and undoubtedly a number of others.
The complete lack of comment so far from the organisers who are also forum members makes me wonder if they have got something up their sleeve?
Like for example, maybe they are going to announce an extra day of competition, or an extra class of competition or something in the near future, a bit like a pop concert that sells out in 90 minutes, and then the organisers mysteriously put on an extra 5 nights of shows? When that happens, you know full well that the organisers already had a contingency plan for the extra dates but were hedging their bets when the tickets first went on sale.
What is the exact wording for those who have been rejected? Is there any interperetation that could be taken to suggest that maybe, you've not got into competition A, but are still in with a chance for competition B?
Maybe, it's been so succesful that they are having to expand and develop the whole format.
I have no idea about, or evidnce for any of this, but have read the whole thread and am just curious.Last edited by Steve; 20-03-2012, 02:38 PM.JR Vibe Fifty fb (YS56)
