have you any thoughts or examples for us.
but note that this is our first competition and making money is a luxury
at the moment its at my costs.i mean im paying for this competition myself this is because i wanted a good location and p/a etc rather than a normal field which i did consider
but im interested in this for future reasons.when we do make money

That is a good idea Craig, If there is any money left over after all the costs have been taken out, maybe invest half in next years event and the other half to the winners choosen charity, i like that

Every one moaned like hell when the clubmans was scrapped off, so craig has come along and re-introduced the event in a new way with the 8K cup for the beginners and allowing for the top pilots to compete also, and everyone is being negative about it, there is more to heli flying than the champs you know, and it is not trying to steal the champs thunder.
There are plenty of pilots out there that will want to make it to the masters in the future (i will never be that good) and this is the format you will have to use.
I think it is about time that everyone stopped giving craig a hard time and started to remember what these events are about, having fun, enjoying our hobby together as a group of like minded people who have a passion for helis and want to make this year, with all the great events planned, the best ever for the RC heli world in the uk.
With all the other hassles that have been going on of late in this hobby lets support each other.
I for one am going to as many as i can make over the next 12 months, doesn't matter what format, who is running it, where it is, WHY, because i love this hobby, made some great pals over the last couple of years and want every opportunity to meet some of the people i talk to every day on this great forum.

I've not been flying heli's that long at all really but from right when i started i always wanted to be competent at 3D and "dreamed" i'd get to compete one day.

If there were not people out there with the will, desire and ability to put these competitions together then it would always be a dream for me.
So for having the aforementioned and also having a great deal of passion for the hobby i think Craig should be commended for his efforts to give people like me the opportunity to take part in these events,

Seems some are quick to condemn him, the competition, the format and its purpose for been, but what are they doing for the "greater good" of this hobby we all love.
Pardon the pun but i think comments about making money from this is a cheap shot, i have no idea of the figures involved but i do have enough experience in business to know that a profit from an event like this in its first year is highly unlikely.

Ive spoke to Craig a few times recently about the comp and each time for some length of time, i can honestly say i don't believe his motives to be self centered for one minute, hes offered me support help and advice when he could be running his business if hes willing to give his time and efforts so freely to give us all something we can enjoy and look forward to attending, can we not respect his efforts a little more.

my intention are ONLY for the good of the sport and nothing more..
not purely intended to making a profit
not intended to out do anyone or hurt any other competition

just to promote 3d flying in the near future
just to bring prize money for competitors in the future
to get big sponsors,not helicopter related(i wont mention who but i have ideas)

if i get the support ill do my upmost to promote rc helicopter and 3d flying in general

and yes when we make I money will be plan something positive for the sport/the pilots and charity after the bills have been paid running the event
