Every one moaned like hell when the clubmans was scrapped off, so craig has come along and re-introduced the event in a new way with the 8K cup for the beginners and allowing for the top pilots to compete also, and everyone is being negative about it, there is more to heli flying than the champs you know, and it is not trying to steal the champs thunder.
There are plenty of pilots out there that will want to make it to the masters in the future (i will never be that good) and this is the format you will have to use.
I think it is about time that everyone stopped giving craig a hard time and started to remember what these events are about, having fun, enjoying our hobby together as a group of like minded people who have a passion for helis and want to make this year, with all the great events planned, the best ever for the RC heli world in the uk.
With all the other hassles that have been going on of late in this hobby lets support each other.
I for one am going to as many as i can make over the next 12 months, doesn't matter what format, who is running it, where it is, WHY, because i love this hobby, made some great pals over the last couple of years and want every opportunity to meet some of the people i talk to every day on this great forum.

Right where do I start Craig. First off, this is your business venture (and yes I mean business - you will be making money out of it), so why should I or anyone else do your work for you in pointing out your spelling and grammar mistakes? Ill point out a few to get you started though.

SET MANOEUVRES.

There will BE upto 6 set manoeuvres that will be flown in the order listed on the entrance form.

Demonstration pilots.

There will be demonstrations through the day to promote the sponsors/products. There will also be invited demonstration pilots

CAMPING
Will be free on <--of charge to all competitor

I could go on and on. It also doesn't look very good having your site as a FREE yolasite, meaning more profit for you. How about breaking the information up in to sub pages rather than having to scroll through one page to find what you want?

As for the negativity; there was none from me at the start of this, just a friendly bit of advice, to which you replied to with sarcasm, again not very professional is it? To be honest with you, as has been said by others in previous posts, you don't have much support for your "competition" due to the way you are hell bent on working against Mike and Rob and the 3D Champs, and not with them.

You could have had a great event, you've certainly got the venue, but I suspect most of the people watching will be from the model air show rather than travelling from all corners of the UK to watch, like they do for the champs.

Finally, you might want to consider not alienating you potential audience on here with the way you are conducting youself regarding the uk3dcup, 3d smackdown, uk 3dx cup, or whatever name you've currently come up with.

Glad my words went far.
Never going to please all the people all of the time guys.
Everyone is diff and has diff opinions.
I don't blame Craig for being on the defensive, everyone has attacked what he has been trying to do from the start, just because he wants to do something diff from the champs.
I understand that both Rob and Mike have worked very hard to come up with the new 3d format, and it is good, i like it, but there are others like the 3dx, and i do not see why everyone has to do the same thing? There is hardly any diff to them bar the sets are in a freestyle? Won't take much effort to adapt between one or the other

thanks james.i dont want to deter pilots from the champs and actually have offered support if i can.
no my website isnt fantastic at the moment but my main concern has been the FORMAT and making it excepted. at the time i selected 3DX the 3d format didnt exist so i couldnt use it
and im very happy to use 3DX and happy to continue with 3dx
but i support anyone who goes to the effort of creating a competition and i wish them good luck as i totally understand the effort needed
this is my first year and yes im learning as i go along im sure most orgainsers do the same

I don't know whether it's a format conflict or a hangover from Barringer but what I do know is that we should support anyone who goes to the trouble of arranging an event regardless of the way the event is structured. Jamiem, does it really matter whether an event makes money for the host or the team that puts said event together, if your happy to go then go, if your happy to enter then enter, I don't understand the problem. The fact that the champs donates the balance after the running costs are deducted is fantastic and to be applauded. Good luck with the event Craig, my family and I will be there, hopefully we have the weather. We'll also be at the Champs, again hopefully the weather will be favourable, it was cold in the tent.

and will discuss what we should do with the profit if we make any this year. And for the future to support the pilots and move the sport forward
so any ideas on what we could do with future profit would be great
with regards to which way to promote 3d/benefit the pilots/or just making competitions better for everyone

As for the profit side of things there are many ways to use it.
Some i think needs to be re-invested into next years event, to be able to buy or rent equipment, say to get a lap top set up with a sim so all visitors can have a go
