To all those sitting on the fence, thinking about entering. DO IT. I entered my first Grassroots comp this year, and I have to say it's the best decision I made. You'll be full of doubt, scared you'll make a fool of yourself, but once you done it you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
I have to agree with paddys statement earlier, Mickey Bling should enter. his dance routine at the end of his flights are legendary.Align Trex 450pro Vbar

for you guys that have never competed before here is a rough guide of what the competition entails.
each pilot will fly two rounds consisting of
1.. Sets.....5 maneuvers picked from the grassroots list. their caller will shout "begin" and "end" for each move...eg if you pick 3sideways tic tocs you may commence doing them... when you are in a comfortable rhythm prompt your caller and he will call "begin" after 3 he will call "end" (this may also be done with the drop of an arm) that will be explained on the day. There is also a six minute time limit.(moves not completed in time will not score)
the k factor affects the score, higher k attract higher scores,( out of 10 multiplied by k.).. so a perfect k1 may beat a very poor k3.5 pick the highest k moves you can do best to get your score up. the judges will have a list of your five moves in advance.
2... freesyle..a three minute flight flying how you interpret an interesting technical display flight to the best of your abilities. you can string together set moves add loops rolls ,flips etc even nose in hovering if thats your thing maybe an auto at the end if your confident doing them. your callers job is to get you as damn near the three minutes as possible, your every move will rack up points land too early you could have got more, land too late and they dont count. (the caller in this instance needs to tell you 2mins. 1 min. 30 seconds 15 seconds followed by a count down to zero of course again calling "start" and "end") so for eg you could call start from the ground and lift into a piro hover. or you could lift off settle into a nice still sideways hover..call start and blast off full pitch upwards. judges will look for style and use of space (scoring upto fifty) and the difficuly of moves you try transitions between them and your control (again scoring out of fifty) so dont just blast about the sky to line yourself up for the next move try and make it flow, think of it as a "joined up writing" flight.

No need to tell us until the day, when you sign in we will list your sets then, thats how all the other grassroots have been done so we will stick with that method, then if you are struggling with one you can change it before the dayJames
