Blade CX2 - GOT IT!!

Hiya,

Getting your Blade setup properly is a massive benefit, especially if your flying indoors (lounge or dining room). I've spent lots of battery time getting mine sorted and had some great flying but the best thing I did was buying and fitting the Ally Lower Rotor head and swash-plate.

The difference in trimming and setup after fitting these items is enormous. Having got them fitted and spent a battery setting up the swashplate; trimming on the Tx is breeze, hardly any is needed.

Flying my Blade, indoors, is fun.. Mind you, I suspect that I'd still have crashed as much in the early days, even with all the ally parts fitted.

Was gutted today. I work all week, including Saturdays and obviously due to the time of year, I would only get to fly it in daylight outside on a Sunday. So, after a nice long lay-in (rare treat), up I got and out I went into the garden. Beautiful still day etc, so all looked good.

What I like about flying outside is that I can put the Heli straight up about 4-6 feet up and sort it out from there. Obivously you have to be ALOT more careful indoors. Anyway, I did that and initially panicked, so brought the Heli down, but sadly hit something on the way down. So, I picked it up, checked it over and everything looked OK, so off I went again. I set it down on the ground and eased the throttle open and **BANG**. The top 2 blades sheared off into several pieces.

"Thats OK", I thought, I have a few spares, so came indoors to make the repair, when I noticed that I was missing the entire upper blade assembly, so I went back outside to locate the remains, which I found and rescued the 2 tiny screws that I needed. But one of them was broken.

So, there I was, 30 seconds of flight, enough blades to last me, but no screws to replace the broken one with. Damn.

Model shop doesn't open on Sundays either. Double damn. So thats it.

I have a day off Wednesday, so hoping to have a go then.

The bar above the top blades is bent too, I have managed to straighten it almost but not quite perfectly. It really is quite close. Should I replace this? Obviously I'd rather not if I don't need to as that cost could buy me another pack of blades!!

If you can straighten the flybar into some sort of straightness then leave it on mate..Jeez mine was bent to a near rightangle when I hit the lamp in the hotelStraightened out nicely! You can see when flying how far out of track it is if you havent straightened it enough.
I flew mine outside today at the flying field, very calm but it didnt like it at all. Off she flew then I couldn't get the sod to come back

Thats what happened to my Lama 4, only on mine it was the bottom collets and blade holder that flew apart. I have put the original plastic one back on now that seems a bit more secure than alloy one, or maybe i should have put locktight on the srews as it was them that worked loose and caused it to happen. Luckily mine was only 18" or so off floor but the blades shot off with some force, Man they could of hit the Plasma, but lesson learned. Dont put your face or Eyes on same line as blades when checking tracking or better still .. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES better safe than blind.
