Wow, coooool!! Flying around the house without crashing into stuff seems so far away!! I feel daunted by the idea of setting up the trims and the stuff you mention above at this stage.

I do find that it is drifting, despite me trying hard to make what I think are logical adjustments to trims. I have tried in the unit and again since in the kitchen and feel that I am making small amounts of progress. I am quite patient and do really want to stick at this. The main point of frustration is the charging time. I spoke to the guy in my local model shop today about getting another battery and he advised against it purely because it's not a good idea to fly two batteries back-to-back for fear of overheating the motors. Is he on the mark with this theory? Or worrying unecessarily?

i often put three batteries through mine with no problems. also if your flight time is 8 mins and your charge time is 60 mins. you would need7 packs with a four minute break!!!!! so i dont think an extra battery is going to cause you much grief!!

Got mine trimmed nicely now, Can hold a steady hover almost without touching the sticks.

Have been practicing nose in manouvres as well as landing it in various places around the room like on top of my printer or on top of the DVD rack..

Could never have imagined owning one of these but quite like flying it round the room every night now.

nice one tim adictive little buggers arn't they?

christian i would not bother trying to adjust trims till you can get it off the ground into a reasonable hover using the sticks.then you'll be able to tell what it needs

            They certainly are Ron..

I blame gazza, he bought one last week and I scoffed at him buying one of those after the way he fly's the T-Rex 600.. Awesome BTW..

Anyhow temptation got the better of me so as you know I picked one up this week..

Got an extra 2s FlightPower battery and the standard E-Flight one that came with it, Bloody charger has never stopped all night..

            Great fun arnt they Ron..

How about this Revolution 750mah-20C-2S (7.4V nominal) battery:

              Dimensions: 11mm X 33mm X 58mm
              Weight:41Gms

The battery box would need to be heavily modded to make it fit, and a small velcroe strap used, but I checked it with the verniers, and it will fit !

I know its 50 MAh less than the e-flite battery, but it is a 20 C battery, 1 gram lighter than stock, with JST leads that cost a mere £13.57. (It does use a cell pro balancing tap, so would not be compatible with the normal e-flite charger though).

I think I might buy 2 to give them a try!

I went around to mikes last week & sized one up before I bought the Flightpower but it just seemed that little bit too big...Couldn't be bothered chopping the heli up

Well, the father-in-law has also now got a CX2 and after resolving an out-of-the-box techie issue (turned out to be a faulty charger) we went to his house this evening to pass on the replacement charger that we arranged for him. Obviously it would have been rude not to take my CX2 for some attempted tandem flight. LOL. I don't think so!!

Anyway, after trying some in-kitchen manouveres we decided that being a very still evening and with the benefit of a good floodlight, we ventured outside and I have to say, it is immeasurably easier outside because you have margin for error. I find that indoors, at this stage of the learning curve, as soon as flight wanders, I shut the throttle and land. However, outside, you have the time and space to make corrective moves. At one point I had it hovering reasonably well and was making left and right rotative (??) turns using the left hand stick. It felt good, but as I got a litte more cocky, I gained a little more height than I felt comfortable with and down-throttled, but sadly beyond that which I could correct before a reasonably hard crash-landing!!

Anyway, in summary, I can say that this evening I managed to break 3 lower blades and one upper within the use of one battery pack!! F-I-L didn't break any blades but did manage to break one of the skids.

So, where can we bulk-buy these blades??!!

That said, I'm hoping for still weather on Sunday, when I will be out in the garden and with the luxury of grass!! I really do think the pro's of flying outside outweigh the con's at this stage of my flying career and once I have control over it, flying indoors will be more enjoyable.

I only used to fly it outdoors. Today I flew 2 batteries in the loungs, and the gentlest of clips broke one of the lower blades. I mean really, could e-flite make them any weaker and still be able to fly............I think not

I agree it might need the £4 battery box cutting up, but the alternative is to buy a flight power adapter for the 4S which is alot more. I know FMA are very honest with their C ratings unlike flight power, so I am getting closer to that phone call to mike.

That is a good thing though, because last night when I slammed into our new £100 Brabantia bin, I could have ended up needing surgery to my you-know-what's if the blades had have dented it. Luckily for me, it came through unscathed.
