  • 1s charger harness

    Hi,
I have a charger for 2s and 3s lipos and was wondering if I can get a harness to charge 1s lipos or is it not that easy?

  • #2
What kind of charger do you have? I have an iCharger (dont remember which model), and I use a6 way adapter to charge single cell lipo's for a Nano, and also 2 cell ones for a 130x.

See you are also in Swad!

As MOTFT says, depends on which 1S you're talking about. For example, this is the one I use for my mCPX lipos

        Ooh someone local

I only have a cheapy ebay job which I use to charge my trex 450 batteries

Acme Racing: B1066 Lipo Balance Charger 240v | eBay

I presume this is no good. I'm looking at getting a Blade MSRx and if I can save a few pounds by being able to use my existing charger, that'll be great. Otherwise, the one I've seen is the Eflite charger which does 4 of the 1s batteries for £32

If my charger is no good, is there any chargers you can recommend to do the job, preferably being able to charge 2 or more batteries at the same time, which looks like the harness would allow that anyway.

        Thank you for your replies.

Please don't get the E-Flight one. It is £32 and you will only ever be able to charge those 1S batteries.

For about £50 I would highly recommend the LX60B. It can charge all lipos from 1S to 6S and up to 5A. It is mains or 12V and so you don't have to buy a power supply and it is a super charger. I use it for everything from parallel charging my MCXP and 120SR batters (not together!), my 130X 2S and my 450 3S. I parallel charge 2 x 3S 2200mah batteries for my 450 at 1C. Perfect!

All you would need is the parallel charging cable for the battery type you have or a parallel charging board for the larger batteries.

You might get it cheaper. I have seen them for about £50. A little more than the £32 for the E-Flight but this charger would do everything you will want for quite some time... until you start using 7S batteries or bigger anyway!!!

            Re: 1s charger harness

The item tomwalden said about wont work as your charger will only see it as 1s & is for paralell charging . I bought a harness of e.bay for charging my mcpx packs & it will charge 3 at a time but also plugs into the balance port of the charger & sees it as a 3s pack . Hope this helps . Rob

Thanks Rob, may I ask what charger you have please? I'm looking at the one 450man linked to and for an extra £17 compared to the E-Flight, it might be worth it but would like a variety of chargers to compare a few.

Parallel charging is by far the easiest and most common.

                  Re: 1s charger harness

Hi mate , ive got a cellpro 10s & a b6 charger which i think is made by a few companies , mine is a century uk one , they are ok but only 50 watt so it depends on your future plans . If you change your charger you could then paralell charge and do as Tom said , but i based my 1st responce on just getting a harness for your present one mate . Hope this makes sense & ask away if you need anymore help . Rob

Will my cheapy charger do 1s then Rob? It has two ports, one for 2 Cell DC 7.4v and the other for 3 Cell DC 11.1v. Would a harness work or do I need a new charger for 1s batteries? I'm only using to charging normal household batteries and I'm new to these balancing, parallel and flashy lights everywhere chargers. I'm just looking to use my existing one for cheapness at the minute but will upgrade my charger to a semi decent one if necessary.

Just found one of these on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ripmax-Hex...-/261141349517

I like the looks of it as I can charge 6 batteries in it and can be powered by a USB lead as my PC is on most of the time anyway. Has anyone tried this charger or have any thoughts on it? At least this one will charge multiple batteries at the same time which would be very useful.

A lipo cell has a nominal voltage is 3.7v. A 1S battery means it has 1 lipo cell in series so the voltage for any 1S battery has a voltage of 3.7v. Your charger can charge 2S & 3S so can charge at 7.4v and 11.1v respectively so no - your charger won't charge a 1S battery.

As for that charger I would recommend against any charger that can charge only one type of battery. That one is similar to the E-Flight one and I would recommend that you get a general purpose charger such as the LX60B or other like the iMax B6 (which you would also need a power supply).

Any charger that charges via USB cannot possibly be a good charger. USB is 5V and low current. That charger, or any charger charging via USB, cannot be used for anything other than 1S.

For info, I use a iCharger 106B, which I use to charge 6 single cell batteries (for Nano, same as msrx), or 6 2 cell lipo for the 130x, using parallel adapter cables off ebay. It says it will do up to a 6 cell lipo, or I guess a couple of 3 cell ones but I dont have anything that big yet. BUT, you would need a power supply to run it off, (or a car battery).

I guess I'll be testing its abilities more if/when i get a 450 size heli, after I finds somewhere to fly it!

Thank you for that, I see what all the talk about cells is now. I do like the look of the LX60B but would it charge more than one 1S at any single time? I think with the MSRx being my training heli, I'm going to be needing a good supply of ready charged batteries so I think I would prefer a charger that can charge at least 2 1S batteries at a single time, even if it means buying a charger that only charges 1S batteries. I have a charger for my Trex 450 and I can't see myself going any larger than that in the long term. Does the LX60B charge two or more 1S Lipos?

??? It works for me !

EDIT : ah, I see now I think. The OP has only got a simple 2S or 3S balancing charger .. ? iCharger 106b works well for me as a budget 250W unit.

I use the 106b to para-charge my 6S 2700mah and 3S 2200mah LIPOs. Works fine, but you can only do 3x 6S at a time before you hit the 250W limit.
