right guys ive just run through the calibration screens again, ...several times!! i think ive got it .whilst calibrating the sticks it asks you to rotate them several times , i did about twenty each!!!! it would appear to have worked. ive also messed with the settings and believe i have it near realistic!
ill post those settings asap as i have visitors at the moment!

I really hope you have mate, as this is starting to really **** me off now.

I try and correct drift via the trims on the tx and there's no middle ground, it either drifts left or right, and again forwards or backwards.

The fixed wing aircraft fly great, the heli side of the sim at the moment is a pile of shit right now.

      Every heli does the same!

OK I've calibrated the sticks slowly in clockwise directions and after finished number 2 and 6 peak bars seem to jump around a little bit, 6 being worse.

Then once I lift any heli it goes left and drifts backwards, as always.

Flying helis on FMS is more enjoyable than Phoenix right now.

are you sure your not been too critical. even a trimed heli will move about! ive got mine near spot on now. i'll try and post some settings as soon as i can and may even do a small demo flight. but im afraid time is tight today im just nicking minutes where i can.

btw cambs. all my calibration bars flicker slightly

OK, after many cups of tea, Zen meditation and talking to my spirit guide, I went back to the sim and experimented again.

This time I changed the default viewing setting to "from behind" view, this has changed things greatly.

Yes a little trimming was needed, but hovering and making tiny adjustments to keep her true was more positive and controllable.

The practise curve reminds me of learning the BCX2 only about 100% more difficult, and I do remember people saying controlling helis in simulators is more difficult than in real life.

Am I right in saying that as soon as the chopper lifts off its hands on the sticks from that second on and if you don't it will go off on some sort of direction as its mimicking true flying down wash, as I have found if I'm ready on the controls as soon as she's up regardless of model the control is ten fold better.

Plus I have noticed the sim even accounts for tufts of grass that might make one of the skids hold down and hence go off sideways, so I'm practicing in the sports hall where its a nice level wooden floor and my success has greatly improved.

Also am I also right in saying that when hovering a heli on this sim your always making micro adjustments to keep her staying put, and as I'm a complete beginner and so far have had only one hour real practice this will become easier as I start to understand the other functions and control changes that can be made in the menus, but flying them "tail in" has made a huge difference.

In the TX menus there is BCX2 25% and BCX2 TX, I've changed it to the BCX2 option but so far that hasn't made a whole heap of difference.

I also guess as this is so difficult to master at first this also has added complications when I thought there was a software fault within the product with my controller, or my TX was playing up, but as said before I'm sure the DX6i will make flying more fun around.

Does what I've written made any sense to to the experts here from a beginners perspective, and I may have mislead myself and not realized how hard this heli hovering thing can be to begin with.

Anyway on wards and up wards, but any more info you guys can offer will be great, as I'm still a long way off from any sort of firm complete control, but at least now it's starting to become enjoyable to learn.

right so lets get this straight... the planes fly fine....

                if so its not calibration.

from your explanations it sounds like the helis are behaving normally its a bit like balancing a pencil on the end of your finger its always tryig to fall off.

                  Cheers Ade

Yea I think it's the huge learning curve ahead of me, I've been practicing on the Rex 450 & 600 and as you say it's learning the balancing act, plus I'm having huge fun while at it.

The Blade 400 is grounded for a while yet when it arrives, but I'm in good company with those who offered to help me get all set up, and from what I've heard that's one of the most important expects of launching to CCP aircraft.

hopfully i think this is a storm in a tea cup... once setup the controler is fine!here is a quick demo using the cx2 controler.
its a take off and spot landing. piro into forward flight circles. into nose in landing. piro into flight and back into piro with a skid touch. then over my head into backwards flight with a snap turn and spot landing, nothing special.
