this is from someone Else post it will help you set the v4 up

      to start hover the heli.
looking from the tail of the heli
if it drifts sideways.and the trim is not enough to control it. centre the trim....pop off the ball link on the left servo arm. if the heli is drifting right..shorten the rod(screw the loop on further). half a turn and retry hovering if its drifting left lengthen it.
if the heli is drifting forward centre the trim pop off the right hand ball link and shorten the rod...backwards lengthen it.... remember half a turn at a time. be patient and you will get it hovering steady with no trim needed at all.

now the tail. hover the heli it should now be in a nice steady hover if the tail drifts right with no input.. land the heli turn the proportion pot anti clockwise very slightly.left drift turn clockwise..then disconnect the battery..reconnect and re-hover. small adjustments be patient. once the tail doesn't drift...apply input to the rudder and release if the heli continues to turn slightly then slowly settles add gain. if it is reluctant to turn and wags reduce gain.( you can do this without disconnecting each time)

      hopefully all that helps
what a load of sloblocks rab!!! i think you'll find whichever idiot wrote that may have his left and right servo's mixed up.
i do appologise if anybody has flown into a wall!...before adjusting anything move the right hand stick to find which servo does which direction. also be patient as adjusting one servo does affect the other. so reajustment may be necessary

Don't worry about busting a few blades or bending a few shafts, taking them apart isn't difficult, and crashing unfortunately as all part of learning, cricky with my BCX2 within my first flight I'd bust two blades in as many minutes.

Learning about turbulent air and vortices's between floor and furniture height is a big curve.

Example when flying over my sofa the Wash often moves the heli towards the rear of the seating, after practice you know what's going to happen and adjust almost before it happens, and I have found flying even these little helis is a bit like riding a motorcycle, often you need to make a move before something happens.

Plus once a little confidence builds the urge to start flying faster hits you, again hits and blade strikes are all common place as what I found at that stage a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

You want more thrills but to do so involves a little pain in the process, I've been flying my BCX2 now for many months and in that time I can now whiz her around the room doing tight turns close passes to other objects while staying cool and clam and enjoying the experience, and it's been sometime since I even broke a single blade.

(He says now, cursed forever more lol)

But I was like you when I first took my CX2 out the box, it seemed too large to fly indoors, however after many crashes, replacement parts, a new complete body you'd never know she'd had a single hit but thats all part of the fun, once you have stripped your heli down to repair and replace a part the fear starts to go, as you know your capable of dealing with any crash damage and putting it back together again yourself.

The members here helped me no end, at one point when i started I was going to give it up as a bad job, so I packed it all away left it for a day then went back to it.

And man am I pleased I did, I have around 4-5 flights a day, that's around 50 minutes flying per day, and I love it, I'm going for a bigger heli now and the Phoenix sim so I have many hours practice on that to learn ccp control, then I have had two fantastic offers of on hand help to get her going and what to do.

Plus knowing the guys here are only to happy to offer there experience and advice your never be alone in your hobby, stick with it mate and I bet before April next year your want to go onto the next step up the heli ladder.

Good luck my friend and happy flying.

Hey cambs flyer, good stuff, i have already broken a few blades, luckily i had a few spare sets, and last night i got it up pretty high, paniked, and cut the throttle and it came down so hard on table the landing skids snapped, so i ordered some flexible ones today, but yeh im loving it already althou i cant even control the thing LOL, its a bigger learning curve than i first thought, cant wait to be able to control it properly

I have also ordered some spare batteries so i can fly for longer, i drain the battery pretty quick just spinning the blades up and hopping around.

My brother came round yesterday, and was amazed with it aswell, im pretty sure he is going to go out and buy one for himself

Thats the spirit mate, just because they say "it flys straight out of the box" doesn't mean the owner does as well.

I found taking small flights up to say 2ft practicing hovering and when I got in a bit of bother at that height a hard landing doesn't do any skid damage.

What I done at first was just use the throttle and rudder control, with very slight forward cyclic movement to edge her back into the middle of the room.

For me it all of a sudden became easier after lots of practice, and knowing when the heli sometimes gets in a tight spot not panicking and again experience will soon be with you.

All you need is the excitement to carry on and the rest will soon follow, just a thought, you don't really need training gear on the skids as its a fixed pitched Joby, however it will stop many blade strikes as the legs will nudge the heli off walls and such before the blades get a chance.

Had I done this it would have a saved me a fortune in blade replacements, but hey ho it was worth it.

Also never do what I've done in the past while learning, get carried away flying to a piece of drum thumping music, it bit me big time on a few occasions.

The controls for your heli are pretty much the same as mine, the 2.4ghz radio signal makes no difference to the general control, and the mixing pots on the 4 in 1 when your ready will take control of the torque and drifting as the motors get worn in, but don't worry about that right now.

But if I can help at all just ask mate, I'll do the best I can with what I know already.

              Hi Ron
on my V4 looking from the nose in it is the left servo to adjust for sideway drift
so the post writer was correct

Got the helo set up brilliant now, i was hovering it today, took both hands off the sticks, still holding the tx, and the helo just hovered there perfectly

Thanks for the advice on getting this done it really helped, when u sit down and take your time adjusting stuff.

I would say thou, as the battery gets used or i put in a diffrent battery, its always changing, you need to adjust trim all the time.
